Job summary

Geater Machining & Manufacturing, Co. is seeking a Manufacturing Inspector to verify product conformity to blueprints and specs.

You will perform hand measurements, set up CMMs, and complete inspection reports with attention to detail. You will collaborate with operators and engineers to address non-conformities and support process improvements, while following the company’s quality system and PPE requirements.

Qualifications

• Read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Read and interpret blueprints.
• Able to use basic measurement devices and gages.
• Experience with basic inspection equipment preferred (calipers, micrometers).

Responsibilities

• Inspect products to blue prints, specifications, and work instructions.
• Perform hand checks with a variety of measurement devices.

• Complete inspection reports and review process control plans.
• Badging/ non-conforming product control per procedures.
• Communicate with operators and engineers on non-conformities and improvements.

Job description

Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Inspector is responsible for verifying conformity of products to internal and customer specification. They may provide feedback to machine operators and help aid in process improvements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Inspect products to blue prints, specification, and work instructions
• Perform hand checks of products with a variety of measurement devices
• Setup and run CMM inspection machines and programs
• Complete inspection reports and review process control plans
• Follow managements system process for control of non-conforming product
• Communicate with Manufacturing Operators and Engineers on non-conformities and aid in determining improvements
• Communicate with all internal inspection staff members to determine and review product conformity
• Adhere to Management System policies, practices, and procedures
• Submit change requests
• Solve problems and provide technical guidance and training to staff as required
• Continuously learn and interpret GD&T
• Maintain Geater Values (Teamwork, Respect, Initiative, Pride)

Qualifications:

• Read, write, and speak English fluently
• Read and interpret blueprints
• Computer literate, ability to use Microsoft applications
• Understand units of measure and conversion
• Flexibility to work inside of a fast pace environment which may ask for quick change in product being produced
• Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in written, oral or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables
• Apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and trigonometry

Education and/or Experience:

• Required: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
• Preferred: 1 year experience in a machining/sheet metal shop environment within the aerospace industry
• Preferred: Knowledge and understating and basic inspection equipment ( calipers, micrometers, height gauge )

Physical Demands Include:

• Sitting, standing, and walking
• Use of fingers, hands and arms to handle, grip, and grasp objects, controls, parts, tools and to operate required measuring equipment; and reach, push and pull with hands and arms
• Occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds, assisted lifting above 25 pounds
• Being able to see (20/25 vision with or without glasses) and hear (with mechanical assistance if necessary) sufficient to understand and comprehend individual one-on-one conversations

Work Environment:

This person will work in a temperature controlled environment with moderate noise. There will be time spent in the manufacturing environment. This setting involves manufacturing equipment with others working in close proximity.

• Safety glasses or side shields
• Close-toed or Steel-toed shoes/boots
