Job summary

ASSA ABLOY Group in Phoenix, AZ, seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Technician to support designing and improving manufacturing processes, set up equipment, and collaborate with production teams on cost savings and quality enhancements.

You will contribute to SOPs, work instructions, and ISO compliance, while assisting in training production staff and working with engineering on fixtures and inline testers. A technical degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or diploma in Manufacturing Engineering Technology or related field.
• Proficiency in MS Office and basic software tools.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions and SOPs.
• Experience withLean manufacturing principles is a plus.

Job description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:

• Assist Manufacturing Engineers in designing and implementing manufacturing processes for products and components as well as optimize processes to achieve cost savings.
• Set up, operate, and maintain various manufacturing equipment and tools.
• Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during manufacturing processes.
• Conduct tests and inspections to ensure product quality and adherence to specifications.
• Analyze production data to identify areas for improvement and implement continuous process improvements.
• Prepare and update manufacturing documentation, such as work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Monitor production lines and equipment trends, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely.
• Assist in the training of production personnel on new processes and equipment.
• Work closely with the engineering team to develop fixtures and in-line testers. Validate the effectiveness of these tools.
• Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for any manufacturing issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support process optimization and new product introductions.
• Assist in the selection and procurement of manufacturing equipment and tools.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all manufacturing activities.
• Comply with company ISO 14001 and 9001 requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

• Associate degree or diploma in Manufacturing Engineering Technology or a related field.

Computer Skills

• Proficiency in MS Office
• Ability to navigate PDM & ERP systems to locate needed information.

Language Ability

• For business and safety reasons, ability to write reports and business correspondence in English and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, technicians, and assemblers in English.

Quality Commitment

• Assist the organization with establishing practices that align with ISO requirements.

Other Skills

• Proven experience as a Manufacturing Engineering Technician or in a similar role is preferred.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and best practices.
• Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve production issues.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with engineering and production teams.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations in a manufacturing environment.
• Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced production setting.

Mathematical Ability

• Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts to engineering problems

Reasoning Ability

• Ability to apply principles of logic or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with non-verbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
