  • Minimum 5 years in electronics, electro‑mechanical, or related manufacturing environments.

  • Experience with PCB assembly manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Proven ability to lead cross‑functional projects and teams.

Job Overview

Responsible for supervising and supporting the Manufacturing Engineering function for the Utility Automation Business Unit, including electronic circuit board production, electronic system test, large electro‑mechanical assembly operations for medium‑voltage switchgear products such as Reclosers and Capacitor Switches, and high‑voltage test operations. Provides day‑to‑day leadership and technical direction to the Manufacturing Engineering team while actively participating in process development, continuous improvement initiatives, product launches, automation projects, and manufacturing support activities. This role serves as a key liaison between Operations, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production to ensure safe, efficient, and repeatable manufacturing processes.

A Day In The Life
  • Provide day‑to‑day supervision, guidance, and work prioritization for the Manufacturing Engineering team.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Manufacturing Engineers while supporting employee training and performance objectives.
  • Partner with the Director of Manufacturing to establish departmental priorities, staffing needs, and project schedules.
  • Work closely with the Design Engineering team to develop manufacturing processes for new products and product changes, including fixture development, process validation, and work instruction creation.
  • Support New Product Development activities from a manufacturing perspective, including PFMEA development, control plans, measurement systems, and production readiness activities.
  • Participate in cross‑functional design reviews to ensure manufacturability, quality, and cost objectives are achieved.
  • Maintain and oversee ERP system manufacturing data, including Bills of Material (BOMs), routings, part numbers, and related documentation.
  • Coordinate implementation of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Corrective Action Requests (CARs) to ensure timely and effective execution.
  • Develop, revise, and maintain standard work instructions and manufacturing documentation.
  • Support PCB assembly and soldering processes, including reflow and selective solder operations.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles, Kaizen events, value stream mapping, and waste reduction methodologies.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, process optimization, and improved manufacturing efficiency.
  • Provide hands‑on technical support for manufacturing equipment, tooling, fixtures, and test systems.
  • Evaluate equipment and tooling requirements and support capital equipment justification and implementation activities.
  • Drive ergonomic and safety improvements throughout the manufacturing environment.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Operations teams to establish and maintain robust manufacturing and quality systems.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective action activities related to manufacturing and process issues.
  • Provide technical training and support to production personnel.
  • Track and report departmental performance metrics related to quality, productivity, scrap reduction, safety, and continuous improvement.

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electronics, electro‑mechanical, or related manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting new product introductions, manufacturing process development, PFMEA activities, ERP setup, and production implementation.
  • Experience with PCB assembly manufacturing processes and electronic product manufacturing.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with mechanical CAD software.
  • Strong problem‑solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality system requirements.
  • Ability to effectively lead projects, coordinate cross‑functional teams, and influence positive outcomes.
Preferred:
  • Prior experience leading projects, mentoring engineers, serving as a technical lead, or providing informal team leadership.
  • Experience implementing manufacturing automation and test automation solutions.
  • Familiarity with Python, LabVIEW, Selenium, or similar automation tools.
  • Supervisory or leadership training experience.
  • Experience in medium‑voltage, utility, electronic controls, or industrial equipment manufacturing.
