Job summary

General Dynamics Land Systems in Lima, Ohio seeks an experienced Engineering Program Manager to lead manufacturing-related programs and modernization efforts. You will plan capital and government-funded projects, coordinate schedules and budgets, and act as a technical liaison across engineering, trades, and external customers.

You will drive risk management, supervise projects, and mentor engineers while ensuring safe operations and compliance with security requirements for defense programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in engineering or related technical field; associate degree considered with Abrams experience.
• 10 years related experience preferred.
• Must be able to obtain/maintain DoD security clearance.
• Manufacturing process and equipment experience desired.
• Demonstrated project management and organization.
• Excellent written and presentation communications skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office; Creo or equivalent highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Management, investigation, and reporting on manufacturing related tasks for current and future production programs.
• Management, investigation, and reporting on plant modernization tasks and industrial base studies, including economic analysis and project prioritization.
• Plan strategies and development of capital and government funded projects for plant equipment improvements.
• Lead and manage capital and government funding projects, including procurement, schedules, budgets, and action items.
• Function as technical liaison between engineers, skilled trades, and related disciplines.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing operations at GDLS Lima Operations.
• Coach and mentor salary bargaining unit engineers through team-based coordination of tasks.
• Manage safe work practices and maintain safe work environment.

Position Description:

• Management, investigation, and reporting on manufacturing related tasks for current and future production programs
• Management, investigation, and reporting on plant modernization tasks and industrial base studies. Including economic analysis and project prioritization
• Plan strategies and development of capital and government funded projects for plant equipment improvements
• Lead and manage capital and government funding projects, including project procurements, schedules, budgets, and action items required to minimize/eliminate problems
• Function as technical liaison between engineers, skilled trades, and other related disciplines
• Provide technical support to the manufacturing operations at GDLS Lima Operations
• Provide technical interface with internal and external customers which include representatives from the Government, General dynamics Land Systems Divisional office, and vendors.
• Coach and mentor salary bargaining unit engineers through team-based coordination of technical tasks
• Manage safe work practices and maintain safe work environment

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor degree in engineering or related technical field preferred, Associates Degree with extensive Abrams Mfg. experience will be considered
• 10 years related experience preferred
• Must be able to obtain/maintain DOD security clearance
• Manufacturing process and equipment experience desired
• Demonstrated project management skills and organization
• Able to perform problem solving and root cause analysis
• Excellent written and presentation communications skills
• Proficient with MS software required and Creo or equivalent highly desired
