Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Coursework or project experience in manufacturing, electronics or production systems.
  • Strong grasp of engineering principles and ability to read drawings/schematics.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in design, improvement, and optimization of manufacturing processes for electronic assemblies.
  • Create and update work instructions, process documentation, and SOPs.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and collect data for root-cause analysis.
  • Evaluate equipment, fixtures, and tooling; learn setup and operation procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to enhance product quality and efficiency.

In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience working with electronic product assembly and modern manufacturing processes while building real-world engineering skills. You’ll collaborate closely with experienced mentors in a supportive learning environment. The internship begins in May, runs for 12 weeks, and is fully on-site.As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will:Work directly with manufacturing engineers on real production improvements from day oneLearn diverse technologies such as surface‑mount assembly, automated testing systems, and quality control equipmentRotate through different manufacturing functions to understand how products move from concept to assemblyParticipate in cross-functional projects with engineering, production, and quality teamsBuild foundational knowledge in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologiesHave opportunities to grow professionally through training and potential certification pathwaysResponsibilities:Assisting in the design, improvement, and optimization of manufacturing processes for electronic assembliesCreating and updating work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating proceduresHelping troubleshoot production issues and collecting data for root‑cause analysis and process improvementsParticipating in evaluating manufacturing equipment, fixtures, and tooling while learning setup and operation proceduresCollaborating with engineering, quality, and production teams to identify opportunities to enhance product quality and efficiencyQualifications:Required:Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical fieldMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the futureCoursework or project experience in manufacturing processes, electronics, or production systemsBasic understanding of engineering principles and comfort reading technical drawings, schematics, or workflow diagramsStrong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a commitment to high‑quality workClear communication skills and enthusiasm for working in team‑oriented environmentsDesired:Prior internship or co‑op experience in manufacturing, electronics assembly, or related fieldsFamiliarity with CAD or manufacturing tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, simulation software)Coursework or exposure to lean manufacturing concepts, Six Sigma, statistical analysis, or quality methodologiesKnowledge of PCB assembly, soldering techniques, or IPC standards through labs or personal projectsParticipation in engineering competitions, design teams, or technical student organizations demonstrating hands‑on problem solving-What You Can Expect: A culture of integrity.At CACI, we place character and innovation at the center of everything we do.
