Job summary

Zurn Elkay Water Solutions Corporation is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 at our Illinois plant. The intern will assist the Engineering Manager on projects to support manufacturing by optimizing workflow, eliminating bottlenecks, redesigning layouts, and conducting line-balance studies.

Ideal candidates are sophomores or juniors pursuing an Engineering degree, able to work 40 hours per week, with strong communication, problem-solving, and AutoCAD skills; GPA 3.0+

Qualifications

• Sophomore or junior year pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field strongly preferred
• Must be able to work 40 hours per week
• Ability to work with others, but highly self-motivated to achieve individual tasks efficiently
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong attention to detail a must
• Creative problem-solving skills essential; strong analytical skills desired
• Computer skills including excellent skills with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• AutoCAD Experience Required
• GPA desired: 3.0 or better

We are targeting students completing their sophomore or junior year of college who are interested in working in a dynamic and engaging work environment to participate in our internship program. Elkay interns will apply the skills and knowledge developed in college while contributing to exciting real world projects! The Industrial Engineering Intern will assist the Engineering Manager with various projects to support the manufacturing plant by performing the following duties:

• Optimizing workflow by process mapping
• Eliminating bottlenecks to increase efficiencies
• Redesign/optimization of layouts
• Conduct line balance review of assembly lines
• Execution of time studies and standards development

The student will gain experience in the day-to-day activities and project work done by a typical industrial engineer.

We are targeting students completing their sophomore or junior year of college who are interested in working in a dynamic and engaging work environment to participate in our internship program. Students completing their freshman year may apply, but we prefer students already into their core curriculum.

Elkay interns will apply the skills and knowledge developed in college while contributing to exciting real-world projects!

Compensation

The compensation range(s) identified below are a good faith estimate of the salary expected to be paid as performed from these locations. Actual salaries may vary based on compensable factors including but not limited to skillset, experience, education and training, and other relevant business and organizational factors. Most candidates will start in the lower half of the range.

The compensation range for this position is $19.50-21.50/hour.
