iA (Innovation Associates) is offering a 10-week Manufacturing Engineering Intern program in the United States. You will support Lean initiatives across pharmacy automation operations, analyze processes, map workflows, and help implement Six Sigma-based solutions to reduce waste and boost efficiency.

The role emphasizes hands-on collaboration with cross-functional teams, time studies, kaizen events, and data-driven decision making using Excel, Power BI, or Minitab.

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Support Lean manufacturing initiatives to improve productivity and reduce waste.
• Analyze manufacturing processes and develop standard work, process maps, and value stream analyses.
• Assist with time studies, capacity analysis, and line balancing to improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with engineering, production and quality teams to resolve bottlenecks and quality issues.
• Participate in kaizen events, 5S audits, and continuous improvement activities.
• Collect and analyze data using Excel, Power BI, or Minitab to monitor performance.
• Prepare findings and recommendations for the manufacturing engineering team.
• Help implement poka-yoke techniques and visual management for reliability.

Job description

The Role:

As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will support initiatives that improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee engagement across our pharmacy automation operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify improvement opportunities, analyze process performance, document current-state and future-state workflows, and help implement sustainable Lean and Six Sigma-based solutions that reduce waste and improve operational efficiency.

The iA Intern Program is a 10-week summer internship, running from, Tuesday June 1, 2027, through Friday, August 6, 2027.

What you’ll do:

• Support the implementation of Lean manufacturing initiatives to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance workflow.
• Analyze existing manufacturing processes and assist in developing standard work instructions, process maps, and value stream analyses.
• Assist with time studies, capacity analysis, and line balancing to optimize production efficiency.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to identify and resolve process bottlenecks and quality issues.
• Participate in kaizen events, 5S audits, and other continuous improvement activities.
• Collect and analyze data using tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Minitab to monitor process performance and support decision-making.
• Prepare and present findings, recommendations, and implementation plans to the manufacturing engineering team.
• Help implement mistake-proofing (poka-yoke) techniques and visual management tools to improve process reliability.

Who you are:

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies (coursework or project experience preferred).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a hands‑on, team‑oriented attitude.
• Passion for innovation and improving manufacturing systems.

Even better if you have:

• Knowledge of problem‑solving tools such as 5 Why, A3 Thinking, Fishbone Diagrams, or Root Cause Analysis.

Compensation:

The estimated hourly rate range for this position is $18.00 to $26.00 per hour, though a candidate’s hourly rate shall be determined on a range of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications and experience.
