Job summary

Stryker Group is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering intern to apply Lean Six Sigma concepts in a dynamic manufacturing environment. You will work closely with a dedicated mentor to identify and implement improvements across processes, aiming to reduce defects and ensure smooth production.

The role emphasizes collaboration with design and operations teams to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety, with hands-on projects and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree and enrolled in a related program.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred at time of hire.
  • US work authorization required; sponsorship not offered now or in the future.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Apply Lean Six Sigma principles in a manufacturing setting with mentor guidance.
  • Identify, analyze, and implement improvements to current processes to reduce defects and errors.
  • Support design and operations teams to bring products to market efficiently.
  • Assist with fixture development, lean manufacturing implementation, and safety improvements.
  • Contribute to process validation and documentation of improvements.

As a Manufacturing Engineering intern at Stryker, you will:

The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will gain hands‑on experience applying Lean Six Sigma principles in a manufacturing environment. Working closely with an assigned mentor, the intern will support the identification, analysis, and implementation of improvements to current manufacturing processes.

The intern will work with a manufacturing engineering mentor to identify opportunities to reduce defects, rework, or process escapes through mistake‑proofing solutions. This project will focus on evaluating current process risks and supporting the design or implementation of simple automation, sensing, or verification methods that prevent incorrect operations from occurring

Collaborate with design and operations teams to bring products to market efficiently. Projects may include fixture development, assembly line optimization, lean manufacturing implementation, ergonomics/safety improvements, and process validation.

Majors Targeted: Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial & Operations Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related majors

What You Need
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field; must remain enrolled in a degree‑seeking program after the internship.
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA or above (verified at time of hire)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and not require employment‑based sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to collaborate and build relationships
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem‑solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and eagerness to learn in a dynamic environment.

$20 min hourly wage – $35 max hourly wage, sign‑on bonus, 11 paid holidays annually, and either paid corporate housing or a living stipend, dependent upon hiring location
