Summary

The Manufacturing Engineering Assistant supports the innovation engineer in bringing new products from concept to reality by driving innovative manufacturing approaches, drafting and prototyping methods. This role is ideal for a recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering who is passionate about creating and improving products through hands-on experimentation, technical drafting, and advanced manufacturing techniques.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist innovation engineer to design, prototype, and test new products.
• Explore innovative materials, production methods, and tooling solutions to enhance product performance, functionality, and manufacturability.
• Support pilot runs and prototype builds to validate new product designs and manufacturing approaches.
• Create and refine CAD models, layouts, drafting documentation and schematics for new products and experimental production setups.
• Work with sales team to produce technical drawings for manufacturing and production teams.
• Collect and analyze data from prototype testing and small-scale production to inform design improvements and product iterations.
• Contribute to ideation sessions, product design reviews, and cross-functional innovation workshops.
• Assist in documenting product development experiments, prototype results, and lessons learned to accelerate future projects.
• Work closely with quality, sales and production teams to translate innovative ideas into scalable, manufacturable products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.

• Creative problem-solver with a curiosity for materials, manufacturing technologies and new product possibilities.
