Job summary

The role operates in a high‑mix, low‑volume, engineer‑to‑order manufacturing environment and requires cross‑functional coordination with engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing to ensure on‑time delivery of non‑repetitive builds.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
  • 10+ years of professional engineering/technology experience.
  • 5+ years in an engineering design or manufacturing role.
  • 5+ years of project management on complex technically oriented projects with budget and resource direction.
  • Strong understanding of engineer-to-order workflows, design release processes, configuration management and production readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the quoting of all new projects for the Global Instrumentation and Controls Production Facility.
  • Develop tools to report performance to plan, including schedule adherence and budget.
  • Build processes and systems to facilitate complex production capacity decisions.
  • Provide status reports to executive leadership.
  • Serve as the technical interface for project related requests between Production and the internal Westinghouse Project teams.
  • Coordinate with engineering to translate engineer-to-order designs into executable manufacturing plans, accounting for testing infrastructure requirements.

About the role

The Project Engineer is a critical role responsible for the project management activities of complex engineering projects. The Project Engineer is responsible for defining the project's work breakdown structure, estimating efforts/costs, schedule development and maintenance, and resource planning, tracking, and management. In addition, the engineer identifies, tracks, and resolves complex technical issues. The engineer is further responsible for status reporting to senior/executive management and customers.

These responsibilities are for complex engineering projects within the Global Instrumentation and Controls (GIC) Production organization. The role operates within a high‑mix, low‑volume, engineer‑to‑order (ETO) manufacturing environment, where products are frequently customized to unique customer specifications. The engineer manages dynamic production conditions and cross‑functional coordination between engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing to ensure on‑time delivery of complex, non‑repetitive builds.

You will report to the Sr. Manager Global I&C Production & IV&V and the role will be fully on‑site in Warrendale, PA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the quoting of all new projects for the Global Instrumentation and Controls Production Facility
  • Develop tools to effectively report performance to plan, including both schedule adherence and budget.
  • Build processes and systems to facilitate complex production capacity decisions
  • Provide status reports to executive leadership.
  • Serve as the technical interface for project related requests between Production and the internal Westinghouse Project teams.
  • Utilize processes and systems developed to expand manufacturing processes globally.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering to translate engineer‑to‑order designs into executable manufacturing plans, accounting for testing infrastructure requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • 10+ years of professional experience in engineering/technology-based industries
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an engineering design or manufacturing role
  • 5+ years of project management experience of complex technically oriented projects with programmatic, budgetary, and resource direction responsibilities
  • Strong understanding of engineer‑to‑order workflows, including design release processes, configuration management, and production readiness

The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $103,200 to $129,000 per year.
