General Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer – Planning is responsible for all planning functions related to the fabrication and installation of detail parts and assemblies for multiple aircraft systems and structures, as well as maintaining the aircraft build sequence.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain the master build sequence of the aircraft, adjusting the build sequence as required to maintain efficiencies, incorporate cost reductions, and eliminate unnecessary disassembly, travelled work, and planning-related non-conformances.
- Manage the incorporation of engineering changes into planning and create/manage Change Books to relate changes to each position of the aircraft build.
- Create planning for engineering-driven changes involving obsolete parts in stock, as directed by leadership.
- Support the review and creation of Change Requests (CRs) for impacts to planning.
- Support Corrective Action investigations and resolutions.
- Support the resolution of planning-related issues affecting the issuance of the Certificate of Airworthiness for the aircraft.
- Create and maintain master MBOMs.
Education, Work Experience, Certification and/or Licensure
- 5+ years of Manufacturing Engineering planning experience involving the fabrication, assembly, and installation of detail parts, assemblies, and aircraft installations.
- B.S.M.E., B.S.A.E., B.S.I.E., or B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering/Engineering Technology preferred, but not required.
- Six Sigma Certification is a plus.
- Experience creating and maintaining planning for composite drilling and assembly, 3- and 5-axis machining of metals, electrical harness and avionics installations, and sheet metal fabrication is required.
- Experience creating and maintaining planning for building electrical harnesses is a plus.
- Experience with GD&T is required.
- Experience working in an IPT (Integrated Product Team) format is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven knowledge of configuration management and creation/maintenance of MBOMs is required.
- Proven ability to convert complex processes into clear, easy-to-understand, and easy-to-follow instructions.
- CATIA V5/V6 experience is a plus.
- SAP experience is a plus.
- Teamcenter Manufacturing/Process Planning experience, including creating MBOMs and BOPs, is a plus.
- Ability to analyze a variety of engineering data to help determine how to meet company objectives.
