Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in the United States is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to provide direction on the integration of components for New Glenn. The role emphasizes design for manufacturability, tooling development, and solving complex production challenges.

You will lead the creation of work instructions, manage quality and schedules, review drawings, and ensure traceability of hardware across the build lifecycle. A strong, collaborative mindset and dedication to safety are essential.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 3+ years of direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering fundamentals.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E and CATIA preferred).
  • Experience managing MBOM, authoring work instructions, and dispositioning non-conforming material.
  • Collaborative work style across large geographic distances; strong written and verbal skills.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems and related processes.

  • Oversee quality, build sequence, and scheduling of hardware through manufacturing.

In this role you will provide manufacturing direction on the integration of components for New Glenn.

This role will require you to demonstrate your ability to proactively improve design for manufacturability, eliminate barriers, and tackle unforeseen technical problems. You will also be developing tooling requirements and designing simple tooling. Responsibilities
  • Develop manufacturing work instructions to clearly define manufacturing processes for fabrication, inspection, trimming, assembly, and integration.
  • Closely manage quality, build sequence, and schedule of hardware throughout the entire manufacturing process.
  • Perform engineering drawing review and provide final approval for manufacturing.
  • Design and model simple tooling like drill jigs and create statement of work for complex tooling.
  • Define and support repair and rework activities.
  • Perform root cause analyses when non-conformances and escapes are identified and deploy corrective actions.
  • Craft accurate material handling and packaging to protect hardware.
  • Manage hardware configuration and maintain pedigree.
  • Prioritize hardware procurement and fabrication and communicate these priorities to the team.
  • Extreme customer focus combined with strong verbal and written communication.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university.
  • 3+ years of direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing including solid understanding of GD&T.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E & CATIA preferred)
  • Ability to manage a manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM), author work instructions, and disposition non-conforming material on the production floor
  • A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teams of skills across large geographic distances.
  • Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).
  • Ability to develop processes to industry quality systems such as AS9100.

  • Experience with aircraft, launch vehicle, spacecraft, or satellite development, production, or operations.
  • Experience with tooling design, fabrication, and procurement.
  • Self-directed and able to balance several tasks at once.
