Job summary

Kodiak Aircraft in Sandpoint, Idaho, seeks a mid-level Manufacturing Engineer to turn aircraft design intent into repeatable, efficient production methods. You will collaborate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, Quality, Tooling, and Supply Chain to improve build sequences and manufacturing documentation, with ownership growing over time.

This role emphasizes real shop-floor impact and cross-functional problem-solving in a growth environment that values practical DFM feedback

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• 5-7 years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in aerospace or complex assembly.
• Strong hands‑on understanding of machining, sheet metal, welding, composites, and mechanical or electrical assembly.
• Strong CAD proficiency and fluency reading and interpreting engineering drawings, including GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Experience with DFM analysis and manufacturing‑specific documentation, or strong aptitude and willingness to build this capability.
• Working ERP experience such as Epicor or SAP, including eBOM/mBOM reconciliation and routings.

Responsibilities

• Work side-by-side with mechanics to solve real build problems and make processes more practical, ergonomic, and executable.
• Support and improve build sequences, work content, and line flow within assigned production areas.
• Use CAD models and type design drawings to understand design intent and identify where production can be made easier.
• Author manufacturing prints or models that ease production while remaining traceable to type design and within fit, form, and function.
• Build and present design-change cases to Design Engineering with appropriate senior or lead support.
• Support labor-hour reduction, rework reduction, tooling definition, ERP alignment, and supplier manufacturability issue resolution.

This role connects Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, Tooling, Supply Chain, ERP, and cost. You will work with Senior Manufacturing Engineers and production teams to improve build sequence, methods, manufacturing documentation, tooling needs, and DFM feedback. This is not a role where you simply document what someone else decides. It is a growth role with real ownership in assigned areas, shop-floor engagement, and a path toward broader autonomy over time. Why this role matters: better methods, clearer work content, practical DFM feedback, and stronger shop-floor alignment help reduce rework, build inconsistency, and unnecessary labor.

What This Role Is We are looking for someone who can independently handle day-to-day method improvements and DFM analysis within their area, while knowing when to bring in the Manufacturing Engineering Lead or senior support for higher-risk or broader-system decisions.

What We Are Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• 5-7 years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in aerospace or complex assembly.
• Strong hands‑on understanding of machining, sheet metal, welding, composites, and mechanical or electrical assembly, with depth in at least one area and working knowledge across others.
• Strong CAD proficiency and fluency reading and interpreting engineering drawings, including GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Experience with DFM analysis and manufacturing‑specific documentation, or strong aptitude and willingness to build this capability.
• Working ERP experience such as Epicor or SAP, including eBOM/mBOM reconciliation and routings.
• Credibility on the shop floor, good judgment, root-cause problem solving, and a track record of following through on assigned work.

Preferred

• Experience in general aviation or low‑rate high‑mix aerospace production, introducing manufacturing print or DFM practices to an existing product, Lean or continuous improvement, AS9100 or FAA/FAR Part 23 manufacturing environments, and supplier manufacturability or delivery issue resolution.

Information Related To The Position

• Location: onsite in Sandpoint, Idaho. Travel: approximately 10% as needed to resolve supplier or production constraints. Role type: individual contributor, no direct supervisory responsibility.
• The compensation range is $90,000 to $120,000 in base salary plus an annual target bonus.
• The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Daher considers a number of factors when determining salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, skills, and current market conditions.
