Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a manufacturing engineer to own the Dive-XL assembly build at the Quonset campus, designing tooling and production processes. You’ll work hands-on on the floor with technicians, establishing workflows from day one and ensuring efficient, safe manufacturing of large structures.

You will apply strong mechanical fundamentals, GD&T, and 3D CAD skills (Siemens NX, SolidWorks/Creo) while collaborating with design, ERP, and MES systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing or aerospace engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience with physical hardware in manufacturing, production or mechanical design; internships and co-ops count.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5), tolerance stack-ups, and bolted and welded joint design.
  • 3D CAD for fixture and tooling design; Siemens NX preferred, SolidWorks or Creo accepted.
  • Hands-on build experience in machining, welding, fabrication or assembly; Formula SAE, Baja, rocketry, robotics and personal projects count.
  • A part or tool you took from prototype to repeatable production that you can walk us through in detail.
  • Work instructions clear enough that a technician can build from them without you there.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Own manufacturing for a major Dive-XL assembly, such as frame weldments, pressure housings or buoyancy and outer structures, from first article through rate production.
  • Design fixtures, lifting equipment and assembly tooling for large, heavy structures in Siemens NX.
  • Print fixtures, jigs and shop aids in-house, try them on the line, and revise them the same week to cut cycle time and improve ergonomics for technicians.
  • Build manufacturing BOMs in Teamcenter from the engineering BOM, then write the routings and work instructions in ArsenalOS that the floor builds from.
  • Give the design team DFM and DFA feedback, and carry approved changes through to the parts and paperwork on the floor.
  • Help connect Teamcenter, ArsenalOS and Oracle so changes and as‑built records move between them without re‑entry.
  • Lay out work cells as the line comes up, support the robotic and automated equipment, and use labor, yield and cycle‑time data to find where more automation cuts waiting, extra handling and rework.

Job description

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Dive-XL is Anduril’s extra-large autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV), built for ultra-long range and large modular payloads. It is the vehicle behind Ghost Shark, which we build in Sydney for the Royal Australian Navy.

We are now setting up the first U.S. Dive-XL production line at our 150,000 square foot campus in Quonset Point, Rhode Island. Designs and manufacturing BOMs live in Siemens NX and Teamcenter. Routings and digital work instructions live in ArsenalOS, our in-house MES, and materials and orders run through Oracle ERP.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a manufacturing engineering role focused on mechanical systems. As one of the early engineers on our new Quonset campus, you will own the build of major Dive-XL structures, design the tooling, write the process, and work on the floor with the technicians who use them.

If you are tired of legacy bureaucracy, you will feel the difference here from day one. The line is new, so you will set up its processes from the start, with the autonomy to help make Quonset a world-class production site.

You do not need subsea experience. We are looking for strong mechanical fundamentals and hands‑on build experience, and we will teach you the vehicle.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Own manufacturing for a major Dive-XL assembly, such as frame weldments, pressure housings or buoyancy and outer structures, from first article through rate production
  • Design fixtures, lifting equipment and assembly tooling for large, heavy structures in Siemens NX
  • Print fixtures, jigs and shop aids in-house, try them on the line, and revise them the same week to cut cycle time and improve ergonomics for technicians
  • Build manufacturing BOMs in Teamcenter from the engineering BOM, then write the routings and work instructions in ArsenalOS that the floor builds from
  • Give the design team DFM and DFA feedback, and carry approved changes through to the parts and paperwork on the floor
  • Help connect Teamcenter, ArsenalOS and Oracle so changes and as‑built records move between them without re‑entry
  • Lay out work cells as the line comes up, support the robotic and automated equipment, and use labor, yield and cycle‑time data to find where more automation cuts waiting, extra handling and rework
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing or aerospace engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of engineering experience with physical hardware in manufacturing, production or mechanical design; internships and co‑ops count
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5), tolerance stack‑ups, and bolted and welded joint design
  • 3D CAD for fixture and tooling design; Siemens NX preferred, SolidWorks or Creo accepted
  • Hands‑on build experience in machining, welding, fabrication or assembly; Formula SAE, Baja, rocketry, robotics and personal projects count
  • A part or tool you took from prototype to repeatable production that you can walk us through in detail
  • Work instructions clear enough that a technician can build from them without you there
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Large welded frames, composites or buoyancy materials, including fixture design, weld distortion control or WPS/PQR development
  • Subsea or pressure‑rated hardware, such as pressure housings, O‑ring seals, subsea connectors or hydrostatic testing
  • Electromechanical systems, including DC power up to 400 VDC and harness routing
  • AS9100, AS9102 first article inspection, PFMEA, MRL, Risk Assessments
  • Manufacturing BOMs in Teamcenter or another PLM, routings in an MES or ERP, or production data analysis in Python, MATLAB or Minitab
  • Standing up new production lines or work cells for low‑volume, high‑mix builds of large vehicles, aircraft or ships
