Sanmina Corporation in Newark, CA is hiring a CNC Machining Process Engineering Manager to design and implement high‑precision machining for very large parts using 4- and 5‑axis CNC machines and CAD/CAM tools. You will lead the engineering team, own NPI, and drive DFM/DFC feedback while ensuring quality by design and overall process excellence. A BS in Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years of experience, and 3+ years of leadership are required; relocation may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of complex machining processes for very large parts using state-of-the-art 4 and 5-axis CNC machines and CAD/CAM tools.
• Direct the New Product Introduction (NPI) process and ensure products meet cost, schedule and performance specs.
• Own Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Cost feedback with customers.
• Drive continuous improvement: reduce cycle times, improve first-pass yields, and optimize machine utilization.
• Maintain data integrity of cycle times, methods, and production docs.
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Plan and deploy new CNC machinery and material handling equipment.
• Mentor and manage the engineering team; develop KPIs to track performance.

The Opportunity As the CNC Machining Process Engineering Manager, you will be a cornerstone of our plant leadership team. Key Responsibilities Process Design & Technical Leadership Lead the Team: Manage resources responsible for CNC programming, work-holding design, in-process inspection routines, and the creation of accurate routers and work instructions. NPI Ownership: Direct the New Product Introduction (NPI) process, collaborating with internal and external stake holders to ensure new products meet cost, schedule, and performance specs. DFM Support: Act as a technical consultant to customers, utilizing best-in-class tools to provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Cost (DFC) feedback. Quality by Design: Own the engineering processes that ensure part quality through robust process design, manual/automated in-process inspection routines, and strict adherence to production standards. Operational Excellence Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to reduce cycle times, increase first-pass yields, minimize setup times, and improve machine utilization. Data Integrity: Maintain the accuracy of machining cycle times, manufacturing methods, and production documentation to meet cost and quality targets. Problem Solving: Lead root-cause analysis and corrective action (RCCA) through structured problem-solving methods. Technology Planning and Implementation: Select and deploy new CNC machinery and material handling equipment based on ROI; design plant layouts for optimal flow. Team Management Mentorship: Motivate the engineering team through leadership by example, fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth. KPI Management: Develop and maintain departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track and improve organizational performance. Job Requirements Experience: 5+ years of experience creating CNC machining processes for very large parts (60" x 60" x 50" or larger). Leadership: 3+ years of experience directly managing CNC programmers and/or manufacturing engineers. Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical work experience. Technical Savvy: Expert-level understanding of 4 and 5-axis machining and CAD/CAM software tools. Proficient user of Excel, PowerPoint and/or similar tools. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
