Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer (Level 2) for our Deployables Operating Unit in Goleta, CA. You will develop manufacturing processes, layouts, and sequences for spacecraft deployable mechanisms, and provide guidance to engineering to optimize production.

The role requires RCCA/FMEA experience, GD&T, and the ability to read engineering drawings; a Bachelor's degree and hands-on manufacturing problem solving are expected. Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; 0 years with a Masters' degree; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Hands on experience resolving productivity or quality issues in a manufacturing or development environment.
• Experience with RCCA & FMEA.
• Technical leadership of complex projects.
• GD&T Geometric Dimension & Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5).
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM).

Our Deployables Operating Unit is hiring for a Manufacturing Engineer (Level 2). This position will be located in Goleta, CA.

Core Responsibilities

• Develops manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assembly of spacecraft deployable mechanisms.

• Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
• Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
• Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations and best-practices.
• This requisition may be filled at either a Manufacturing Engineer (Level 2) or a Principal Manufacturing Engineer (Level 3) grade based on the qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications For Manufacturing Engineer (Level 2)

• 2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; 0 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Preferred Qualifications

• Manufacturing or Systems Engineering experience with spaceflight hardware.
• Experience with Root Cause & Corrective Actions (RCCA) and Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA)
• Technical leadership of complex projects.
• GD&T Geometric Dimension & Tolerancing, also known by ASME y14.5
• Experience with process innovation.
• Experience with MES (Manufacturing Execution System).

Primary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 - $125,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
