Job summary

U.S. Engineering is offering a Summer Manufacturing Engineer Internship in Lawrence, KS. This 12-week, full-time program provides hands-on experience with project organization, manufacturing processes, and LEAN activities, alongside safety and quality initiatives.

Interns will shadow senior staff, participate in site walk-throughs, and engage in operational research to address facility challenges, while gaining exposure to leadership and real-world engineering tasks.

Qualifications

MANUFACTURING ENGINEER INTERNSHIP

Our Summer internship program is a full-time, 12-week summer position from May through August 2027. As an intern, you’ll receive an exciting opportunity to acquire relevant work experience and work alongside our best and brightest. You will be paid competitively and get to network with our top leaders. Your experience will include an orientation, job walks, and a community service event, just to name a few.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities:

• Shadow project organization, estimating, manufacturing, and LEAN processes.
• Participate in learning safety and quality programs while assisting other Metalworks roles executing Safety and Quality events.
• Assist the office leadership with researching different operational challenges with the facility and grounds, including functional changes throughout the manufacturing processes.

Education:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Science, or Business with an interest in Mechanical Contracting.

Physical and/or travel demands:

• This position will work out of our Lawrence, KS office.
• Frequent use of a computer, including keyboard, viewing monitor for extended periods, and physically moving throughout the office.
• Occasional day trips between construction job sites, offices, and manufacturing facilities.

Benefits and Compensation:

• The range for this position has been established at $19to $23 and is U.S. Engineering’s good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of the posting. The compensation offered to the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.
