Job summary

BTD Manufacturing, Inc. is seeking a co-op or intern to support engineering leadership on safety, quality, and productivity objectives. You will work with the Engineering team to learn through project tasks, justify and design automated systems, and draft CAD concepts for concrete parts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Enrolled in Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics/Automation, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering program at a two- or four-year college, progressing toward a degree.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering by learning from department leadership and engineers to complete tasks for multiple projects.
  • Assist to justify, design, build, test, install, and operate automated manufacturing systems.
  • Design and detailing using 2-D CAD and/or 3-D CAD software.
  • Write and edit robotic or PLC programs to produce parts.
  • Identify and eliminate safety and quality risks and root causes.
  • Utilize time studies or MTM/MOST methods to validate setup and run times.
  • Assist with lean manufacturing initiatives and product flow improvements.
  • Evaluate historical data on run rates to determine accuracy.
  • Assist in creating and evaluating cost reductions.

Serves as a resourceforengineering leadership inachieving siteobjectivesfor safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and continuous improvement.Resolvesquestions or concernsregardingindividual part processes.Improvescurrent processes andconductsinvestigations to reduce inefficiencies.

Essential Functions

The co-op or intern supports operations by working with the Engineering team tolearn through:

  • Directionfromdepartment leadership and engineerstocomplete tasks for multiple projects.
  • Assistingtojustify, design, build,test,install, andoperateautomated manufacturing systems.
  • Designinganddetailing ofitems within a project with theuseof 2-D CAD and/or 3-D CAD software.

Qualifications, Knowledge,Skillsand Abilities:

High school diploma or equivalent required.Must beenrolled ina Mechanical,Electrical,Robotics/Automation, Industrial, or ManufacturingEngineeringprogram at atwo or four yearcollege or university, progressing toward a degree.

Experience and Skills Required:
  • Strong problem-solving, root cause analysis, and cause prevention (error proofing) skills.
  • Ability to work independently and show strong initiative and ownership of ideas and projects.
  • Strong computer skills and excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Priormanufacturing, especially fabrication and welding, experience is beneficial.

Work Environment:

The position has good working conditions in general butis a diversified job requiring sustained mental effort related to organizational issues, planning and technical areas. The individual mayencountermoderate emotional strain or tension.There is sustained exposure to sitting. There is also moderate exposure to Video Data Terminals (VDTs) and moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds).

Compensation Salary Range:

OTC4 $18.67 - $26.12 per hour. The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth. The range provided above does not include additional compensation such as bonus, health benefits, vacation, 401(k) match, etc.
