Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to translate engineering intent into actionable manufacturing plans and BOMs. You will craft work instructions, identify required tools, and support on the manufacturing floor to ensure flight hardware readiness.

Responsibilities include NCR handling, tooling lists, and enabling smooth integration of new products. A BS in a relevant engineering field and hands-on experience with flight hardware are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing, including GD&T.

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-liftorbital launch vehicle capable of routinelycarrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar,and beyond.Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designedfrom the beginningto be human-capable.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Translating engineering intent and drawings into fully functional hardware ready for test, qualification, and flight by crafting manufacturing bill of materials and work instructions
  • Identifying tools and equipment required for manufacturing flight hardware
  • Providing shipside/lineside support on the manufacturing floor
  • Non-conformance report (NCR) generation, management, & closure
  • Supporting introduction of new products by crafting manufacturing plan artifacts including build plans, duration estimates, index plans, and tool lists
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Prior internship experience in areas of aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicle structures, automotive manufacturing or similar.
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing, including knowledge of GD&T.
  • Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hands on experience with building flight hardware
  • 5+ year experience in an engineering capacity, including internships
  • Experience with design, development or production of launch vehicle, spacecraft, or satellites.
  • Proficient with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (Creo or CATIA V5)
  • Customer focused with a proven track record to work cooperatively with teams of different skills across large geographic distances.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
