Job summary

Parker Hannifin is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II to develop and implement advanced manufacturing control systems and automation solutions. You will design, program, test, and troubleshoot PLCs and industrial control systems and provide installation support across Parker locations.

You will evaluate new equipment, develop work standards, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts, safety, reliability, and quality improvements within cross‑functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Design, program and troubleshoot PLC and industrial control systems; create wiring diagrams and interfaces.
  • Lead or participate in studies to evaluate new equipment, considering technical and economic factors.
  • Investigate design proposals to improve equipment performance.
  • Apply automation skills across electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, and control systems.
  • Collaborate with teams to deploy ML and Factory of the Future pillars.

Job description

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting advanced manufacturing control systems, automation solutions, and Factory of the Future initiatives. This role designs, programs, tests, and troubleshoots PLCs, industrial control systems, user interfaces, wiring diagrams, and related equipment while providing technical support for installations across Parker locations. The position also evaluates new equipment and technologies, develops documentation and work standards, supports continuous improvement efforts, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to enhance safety, reliability, quality, and manufacturing performance.

Responsibilities
  • Develop control systems interface, maintenance, and training approaches and documentation including functional diagrams, schematics, interface control documents, reports of performance, function, safety, and reliability requirements analysis, system function, and/or existing technology/manufacturing capability.
  • Furnish all controls‑related hardware and peripherals. Design Web‑based user interface for view by engineers, support and service technicians, and end users.
  • Provide technical support for system installation as needed at other Parker locations.
  • Keep informed of new technologies, developments, products, applications, and competitor trends. Identify and recommend new products, solutions, technical brochures, and engineering/ application data needs to comply with industry needs.
  • Design, program and troubleshoot PLC, industrial control systems and relay control circuits to include panel layouts, wiring diagrams and interfaces. Perform testing, start‑up, and troubleshooting of PLC and industrial control systems.
  • Lead or participate in studies to evaluate or determine feasibility of new or modified equipment and related systems considering technical and economic factors, available resources, time constraints, and customer impact. Present study results and recommendations to appropriate people.
  • Investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance or to obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control.
  • Apply automation skills along with related knowledge in electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, and the ability to install, program, troubleshoot, circuitry, control systems, and machinery.
  • Work together with other HPT or project teams to develop, install, maintain, and expand machine learning and other Factory of the Future pillars to help us become a model site.
  • Development of work instructions and set‑up standards.
  • Assumes additional related responsibilities as required.

Qualifications
  • 4 year college degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience with Automation, programming, and machine design.
  • PLC/SCADA/HMI programming with ability to learn and excel in other programming languages (Ignition, AB Factory Talk, Micrologix 500/5000, etc).
  • 2 plus years of experience in 2D and 3D CAD systems for fixture design, modifications, and schematics design.
  • Installation, modifications and troubleshooting of new and current automated systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with electrical equipment: 480/230 3ph, 110 & 24vdc controls, prints and schematics.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft programs, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
  • Ability to travel as necessary to assist with equipment installation, startup, and service.
