Job summary

SICK Sensor Intelligence is seeking a manufacturing process development professional to support all produced products at our Minneapolis Campus. You will help document assembly fixtures, drive process improvements, and maintain production documentation while supporting production and process engineering activities.

Responsibilities include facilitating continuous improvement, coordinating with departments, and ensuring high-quality processes.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in process development in an electrical production environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering required.
  • Professional written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.

  • Provide support for production management goals to assure on-time delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Support manufacturing engineering improvements, problem solving, and corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain production documentation and fixtures; support new product introductions.
  • Maintain data collection charts and establish BOMs, routings, and specifications to baseline design.

Job description

This role will work 5 days a week in-office at our Minneapolis Campus (Bloomington, MN).

This position has primary responsibility for providing support for all of the manufacturing systems and products produced at SICK, Inc. Additionally, this position is responsible for documentation of assembly fixtures, providing manufacturing process development, supporting current production and process improvements, maintenance and creation of production documentation, and to provide support or manufacturing engineering activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support consistent with SICK Inc. values including the support of production management goals to assure on-time delivery, operational efficiency, continuous improvement, optimal communications, and employee training.
  • Provide support for manufacturing engineering improvement toward continuous improvement, problem solving, corrective actions, and analysis.
  • Provide support for all continuous improvement efforts in operations geared toward cost reduction, increased reliability, and improved process capability.
  • Coordinate with, and provide information and technical support to all departments as appropriate and/or requested.
  • Provide regular feedback and work cooperatively with the engineering functions to improve product throughput and first time yield performance.
  • Support new product introductions.
  • Create and maintain all manufacturing documentation used to properly manufacture all SICK products.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and up keep of all method sheet documentation in use by production and supports the Process Change Orders process used to track all changes to the documents.
  • Maintain all data collection charts for monitoring the health of the production systems and processes.
  • Collect, catalog, and display all the data on a timely basis as required.
  • Establish bills-of-materials, routings, and specification in order to baseline and control design.
  • Prepare estimates of manufacturing costs and approval.
  • Ensure the processes maintain the highest standard of quality as products are produced on a daily basis.
  • Provide electronic expertise for all test equipment.
  • Assist the implementation, modification, and maintenance of test equipment.
  • Support activities that help document support processes, fixtures, and test systems.
  • Carry out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or required.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience: 4+ years of experience in process development in an electrical production environment. Demonstrated experience in an electrical industry.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering is required.
  • Certifications: None is required.
  • Position-specific Qualifications:
  • Good mechanical skills and an aptitude for production as well as product development.
  • Good documentation skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability with Graphics packages or AutoCAD.
  • Good intuitive skills regarding methods and processes required for assembly of electronic components and modules.
  • Computer/Technological: Computer proficiency with Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet applications.
  • Language: Professional written and spoken fluency in English required.
  • Schedule: Generally Monday to Friday, full time; be on-call on some weekends (if required).
  • General Working Conditions: Be able to usually work in an office environment.
  • Work Status: Legally permitted to work in the country you are applying and willing to undergo an employment background check.

Compensation

The base salary is one part of our Total Rewards package and is determined within a range. The starting base salary range for this position is listed below; the actual starting salary will be based on a variety of factors including experience, skill set, education, performance, licenses/certifications, business needs and other job-related factors, as permitted by law.

  • Starting Base Annual Salary Range: $74,550 - $112,750
