Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a engineering field is required.
  • Experience reading engineering drawings and using CAD tools.
  • Familiarity with MES/ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
  • Strong problem solving, communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work on the shop floor in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support development and improvement of manufacturing processes and SOPs.
  • Assist with root-cause analysis and corrective actions on the production floor.
  • Provide engineering support to operators and technicians to assure quality.
  • Participate in DFA reviews and cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Assist with tooling/fixture design, procurement, and validation.
  • Maintain process documentation incl. routings, BOMs, and plans.
  • Support change control and lean initiatives like 5S and Kaizen.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineering to resolve nonconformances and audits.

Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer I – Electronics supports Twenty‑Six Defense’s electronics production operations, focusing on PCB assemblies, electronic modules, wiring/harness assemblies, and electro‑mechanical systems. This role assists with process development, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of electronic manufacturing processes. This role is suitable for entry‑level engineers as well as experienced electronic technicians looking to transition into an engineering role. The engineer will collaborate closely with Quality, Production, Test Engineering, and Design Engineering to ensure high‑reliability electronics are built to ESA’s standards and defense‑industry requirements.

Responsibilities And Tasks
  • Support the development, documentation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist with production floor troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and corrective actions for mechanical, assembly, and electronic manufacturing issues.
  • Provide engineering support to production operators and technicians to ensure consistent product quality and throughput.
  • Participate in design‑for‑manufacturability (DFM) reviews and help identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency.
  • Assist with tooling and fixture design, procurement, and validation.
  • Maintain accurate process documentation including routings, bills of materials (BOMs), and manufacturing plans.
  • Support configuration control and change management processes for manufacturing work instructions and engineering changes.
  • Help implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S, Kaizen, and waste reduction.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineering to resolve nonconformances and support internal/external audits.
  • Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with company standards, aerospace/defense regulations, and safety requirements.
Education, Experience, License, Or Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, assembly methods, and production workflows.
  • Basic understanding of CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, etc.) and ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with MES/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Strong communication, problem‑solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced production environment and support hands‑on work on the shop floor.
Technical Skills
  • Manufacturing Processes: Understanding different production methods, their strengths and weaknesses, and how to choose the right one for a particular product.
  • Materials Science: Knowledge of different materials, their properties, and how they behave during manufacturing processes.
  • Quality Control: Ability to implement and monitor quality control procedures to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Process Improvement: Familiarity with methodologies like Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to optimize production lines and reduce waste.
  • Software Proficiency: This includes a strong foundation in Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) for product design and potentially Computer‑Aided Manufacturing (CAM) for programming machinery.
Soft Skills
  • Problem‑Solving: Identifying and resolving issues that arise on the production line, ensuring smooth operation.
  • Communication: Clearly conveying technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Teamwork: Collaborating effectively with other engineers, technicians, and production staff.
