Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support assembly operations for aerospace nacelle systems. You will learn to optimize a broad range of tasks, design tooling, sequence operations, and ensure configuration compliance, collaborating with design engineers to improve producibility.

The role emphasizes problem solving, data analytics, and adherence to EH&S and quality requirements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Onsite work is required in Foley, AL.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and less than 2 years prior relevant experience.
  • SAP Experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform real-time problem resolution in fast-paced manufacturing or engineering environments.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure sequence on manufacturing process and product builds, and comply with EH&S and Quality requirements.
  • Own design and arrangement of tooling and machines of the manufacturing process (layout).
  • Improve manufacturing processes to achieve producibility working with design engineers.
  • Implement process upgrades by applying robotics and automation.
  • Identify opportunities on drawings and specs to influence changes to engineering designs and line balancing.
  • Participate in tool design reviews to ensure tools are feasible and reduce build times and program costs during fabrication.
  • Use data analytics / SPC for productivity, FPY, and OEE targets and improvement.
  • Drive problem solving initiatives and challenge status QUO (C/A Investigations, OEE, FPY, Customer escapes).
  • Participates in PFMEA and Control Plans.
  • Owns creation and maintains manufacturing process documents (routings, BOM, Visual aids, Std work).
  • Participate in digital manufacturing solutions with support from Digital subject matter experts

Collins Aerospace is looking to hire Manufacturing Engineering to support assembly operations of the Airbus Nacelle systems. Responsible for learning the fundamentals necessary to optimize the performance of a wide range of tasks and services in support of assembly operations, production and business unit objectives. Participates in the design and arrangement of machines and tooling and sequence of operations and may check that mandatory modifications are incorporated to ensure configuration compliance. Analyzes operations information and makes changes to procedures as needed to solve problems and improve efficiency.

What You Will Do

Qualifications We Prefer
  • B.S. in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering /Related (similar degree)
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications and engineering drawings/models.
  • Ability to demonstrate adaptation of machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  • Read, write, speak and understand work instructions both verbal and written, perform basic math calculations and conduct self-inspection / audit.
  • Demonstrated experience in application of Lean, through Continuous Improvement events.
  • Ability to multitask, problem solve, and manage resources along with effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge and experience of various operation software and MS Office software.
  • Basic understanding and knowledge of Robotics and Automation
  • Basic understanding and knowledge of Six Sigma/Red X
  • Basic understanding and knowledge of Project Management

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
