Job summary

Ralliant is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer I to support and optimize manufacturing operations at the Boxborough site. You will help resolve production issues, support new product launches from prototype through production, and drive SQDC targets with structured problem solving.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 1–3 years of relative experience is required.
  • SolidWorks and/or ProE modeling and drafting experience required; SolidWorks preferred.
  • Familiarity with mechanical inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and related measurement equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and document manufacturing processes, including production flow, tooling, fixtures, automation, and test equipment.
  • Develop poka-yoke and fixturing strategies to reduce process variation in assembly processes.
  • Use structured problem-solving techniques to investigate process failures, product failures, equipment issues, and quality concerns; identify root cause; implement corrective actions.
  • Plan and implement improvement initiatives focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost/Productivity (SQDC).
  • Participate in new product design reviews, review and approve part drawings, and support transition of new products to manufacturing.
  • Apply lean tools such as Standard Work, 5S, and VRK to solve production problems and sustain lean practices.
  • Support the ECO process from generation through implementation.
  • Perform engineering pilot runs for part and process validation.
  • Provide manufacturing engineering support to meet customer quality and delivery expectations; collaborate with cross-functional teams on equipment reliability and improvement projects.
  • Participate in PFMEAs, qualifications, and validation protocols to verify equipment and process capabilities.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and communicate data to support decision-making and process improvement.
  • Provide training to affected associates on new and updated processes.

Purpose of Position:

Gems Setra is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer I with strong problem-solving, attention to detail, process discipline, and collaboration skills. This role is responsible for supporting manufacturing operations by resolving production issues, improving manufacturing processes, supporting new product and project launches from prototype through production, and helping achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost/Productivity targets through daily management and continuous improvement activities. The Manufacturing Engineer I will support the development, documentation, and implementation of manufacturing process improvements, tooling, fixtures, automation, and test equipment.

Essential Functions:
  • Design, develop, and document manufacturing processes, including production flow, tooling, fixtures, automation, and test equipment, by applying knowledge of product design, manufacturing processes, product performance specifications, process acceptance criteria, and product/system testing.
  • Develop poka-yoke and fixturing strategies to reduce process variation in assembly processes.
  • Use structured problem-solving techniques to investigate process failures, product failures, equipment issues, and quality concerns; identify root cause; and implement corrective actions.
  • Plan and implement improvement initiatives focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost/Productivity (SQDC).
  • Participate in new product design reviews, review and approve part drawings as appropriate, and support the transition of new products from Design Engineering to manufacturing.
  • Apply lean manufacturing tools such as Standard Work, 5S, and VRK to solve production problems and support implementation and sustainment of lean manufacturing practices.
  • Support the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process from generation through implementation.
  • Perform engineering pilot runs for part and process validation.
  • Provide manufacturing engineering support to meet customer quality and delivery expectations, while collaborating with cross-functional teams on equipment reliability and improvement projects.
  • Participate in the execution of PFMEAs, qualifications, and validation protocols to verify equipment and process capabilities.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and communicate data with attention to detail and accuracy to support decision-making and process improvement.
  • Provide training to affected associates on new and updated processes to ensure proper implementation and adherence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Education & Experience Required:
  • Bachelor of Science degree, or equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field required.

  • Working knowledge of transducers, flow/level switches and/or other measuring sensors.
  • Basic familiarity with ISO:9001 standards.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements related to RoHS and REACH.
  • Knowledge of Copy Exactly process control.
  • Lean manufacturing experience.
