Job summary

MORSE Corp is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to help build and shape manufacturing capabilities in Cambridge, MA, Arlington, VA, and Seattle, WA. You will drive high-impact efforts, scale processes from prototype to volume production, and set up new production lines for novel technologies, collaborating with the CTO of Manufacturing and project teams.

You will develop procedures, optimize layouts, and coordinate with vendors and contract manufacturers to ensure quality, throughput, and cost

Qualifications

  • US Citizenship is required and the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Ability to coordinate shifting priorities and thrive in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication to bridge design engineers and manufacturing vendors.
  • Fluent in SolidWorks and 3DEXPERIENCE for design and lifecycle management.
  • Experience optimizing designs for sheet metal, CNC, welding, and molding.
  • Ability to design and implement assembly jigs and Go/No-Go gauges.
  • LEAN manufacturing and RCA with ownership of process improvements.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 documentation and PFMEA processes.
  • Proficient in GD&T and tolerance stack-up analyses.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP to manage BOMs and routings.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

  • Scale manufacturing processes from R&D prototype builds to higher volume and fieldable manufacturing.
  • Interface with design engineers during product development for DfM/DFx considerations.
  • Create, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes using design, fabrication, and materials knowledge.
  • Develop and document manufacturing procedures, work instructions, setup sheets, and QA docs.
  • Develop and implement processes including PFMEA, equipment definition, layout planning, and training.
  • Work with technicians to ensure processes are followed safely.
  • Identify and implement process improvements for yield, quality, throughput, or KPI.
  • Use analytical skills for root cause investigation and corrective actions.
  • Apply QA skills for acceptance testing and defect prevention; develop QA processes.
  • Create functional requirements for equipment and processes.
  • Source and qualify vendors for equipment and services; collaborate on procurement.
  • Coordinate with contract manufacturers to ramp up production of new systems and sub-assemblies.
