Overview

Manufacturing Engineer – foundry role at iLocatum in the southwest area of the Atlanta, GA metropolitan area (Newnan, GA). Established company with a large market share and a good working culture offers an opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer at a plant site. The selected candidate will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and will plan and design manufacturing processes in an industrial plant; maximize efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce utilization; determine parts and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications. Normal working hours are 8-5, with potential to work up to 45-50 hours per week. The position includes major company benefits, bonus potential, and a 401(k) with 100% match to 5%.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ability to design production tooling, utilizing 2D & 3D software (e.g., SolidWorks).
  • Implement productivity improvements associated with current production lines.
  • Perform root cause analysis of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods (e.g., Lean Tools).
  • Design & implement production processes for new products and design changes to existing products.
  • Perform FMEA on new and existing products involving designs, materials, or processes.
  • Review product designs for manufacturability and optimized processing.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to ensure optimal productivity methods.
  • Lead design of experiments, lean manufacturing, ROIA, etc.
  • Lead design review meetings for new and existing products.
  • Create work instructions, statements of work, spare parts inventories, and critical parts inventories.
  • Implementation of automation, robotic, vision systems, controls integration, end-of-arm tooling, fixturing, gauging, and machine design.
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA) from a four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency with 3D modeling software (specifically SolidWorks) and Microsoft Office.
  • Tooling experience is required.
  • Project management experience to run projects in their entirety.
  • Automation experience including robotics and PLCs.
  • Experience as a manufacturing engineer in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Formal industry experience; flexible as to industry.
  • Experience with zinc or high-pressure aluminum die casting or stamping or plating or finishing is preferred; plastics injection molding experience will be considered.
  • Foundry experience is desired.

Physical Requirements

Working Conditions

The work environment includes both office and manufacturing settings. The noise level is usually moderate in the office; hearing protection may be required in manufacturing areas where PPE is required.
