Job summary

SPX Technologies is building a new campus facility in the U.S. to grow Marley and Ingenia Technologies.

As a Manufacturing Engineer for sheet metal, you will establish world-class processes around laser punching, panel bending, and advanced fabrication to deliver safe, high-quality parts on schedule. You will partner with operators, maintenance, quality, and engineering to drive PFMEA, control plans, and KPI implementation while supporting startup and expansion of the campus manufacturing

Qualifications

  • 3–7 years of manufacturing engineering experience in sheet metal fabrication.
  • Understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, tooling, and material flow.
  • Experience creating work instructions, PFMEAs, control plans, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with operators, technicians, maintenance personnel, and engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Manufacturing Engineering SME for sheet metal fabrication processes.
  • Lead process development and continuous improvement activities for laser/punch systems, fiber laser cutting, CNC press brakes, and panel benders.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing standards, work instructions, PFMEAs, control plans, and standard work.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting for production equipment and processes.
  • Improve safety, quality, productivity, throughput, and efficiency.
  • Perform time studies, capacity analysis, and workflow optimization.
  • Lead scrap reduction and yield improvement initiatives.
  • Lead equipment installation, commissioning, validation, and startup activities.
  • Train production personnel and lead cross-functional problem-solving teams.

As a Manufacturing Engineer supporting our sheet metal fabrication operations, you will play a key role in establishing world-class manufacturing processes that deliver exceptional safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.

We are seeking a hands‑on Manufacturing Engineer to provide technical leadership for our sheet metal fabrication operations supporting both OlympusMAX and Ingenia Air Handling Unit production. This role will focus on developing and improving manufacturing processes centered around laser punching, combination punch/laser equipment, press brakes, automated panel bending, and related fabrication technologies.

The successful candidate will spend significant time on the production floor partnering with operators, technicians, maintenance, quality, and production leadership to solve manufacturing challenges, improve productivity, and support the successful startup and growth of our new manufacturing campus.

What You Can Expect In This Role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Serve as the Manufacturing Engineering subject matter expert for sheet metal fabrication processes.
  • Lead process development and continuous improvement activities for:
    • Combination Punch/Laser Systems
    • Fiber Laser Cutting Equipment
    • CNC Press Brakes
    • Automated Panel Benders
    • Sheet Metal Forming Operations
    • Hardware Insertion and Secondary Fabrication Processes
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing standards, work instructions, PFMEAs, control plans, and standard work documentation.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting support for production equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Improve safety, quality, productivity, throughput, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Perform time studies, capacity analysis, and workflow optimization.
  • Optimize machine utilization, material flow, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Lead scrap reduction and yield improvement initiatives.
  • Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) activities with Product Engineering.
  • Develop and monitor manufacturing KPIs including productivity, quality, downtime, and cycle time.
  • Lead equipment installation, commissioning, validation, and startup activities.
  • Build strong relationships with operators, technicians, supervisors, and production leadership.
  • Train production personnel on new equipment, manufacturing methods, and standard work.
  • Lead cross-functional problem-solving teams using structured root cause analysis.
What We Are Looking For (Required/Ideal Experience, Skills, Education)
Required Experience & Skills
  • 3–7 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a sheet metal fabrication environment.
  • Understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, tooling, and material flow, including CNC laser punching, combination punch/laser equipment, or fiber laser cutting systems.
  • Experience creating work instructions, PFMEAs, control plans, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with operators, technicians, maintenance personnel, and engineers.
Ideal Experience & Skills
  • Experience supporting manufacturing startup, capacity expansion, or new equipment installations.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Manufacturing certification preferred.
Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Travel & Working Environment
  • Travel will be required at times; Ingenia Headquarter located in Quebec, Canada or other SPX locations such as Olathe, KS.
  • Manufacturing plant environment
  • Office and manufacturing plant environment with varying degrees of noise levels and potential exposure to bad weather, excessive heat and/or excessive noise
  • Sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, climbing and potentially working at heights.
