Descripción del empleo

MORSE Corp is an employee owned, small business based in Cambridge, MA, Arlington, VA, and Seattle, WA with a history of fielding cutting‑edge technology. MORSE boasts a specially selected team of scientists, engineers, and software developers to deliver best‑in‑class technical solutions that solve difficult multidisciplinary problems faced by the US National Security Ecosystem.

MORSE is passionate about fielding technology to our users, and to field more effectively, we are expanding in‑house production capabilities with more complex and higher volume manufacturing.

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer Co‑op with an entrepreneurial, hands‑on mindset—a true "doer" who is excited to help stand up processes and physical capabilities. You will participate in the production of first prototype builds, help set up initial assembly lines, and assist with manufacturing ramp‑up. Collaborating closely with the CTO of Manufacturing, manufacturing engineers, design engineers, and technicians, you will gain unmatched end‑to‑end experience driving high‑impact, tangible efforts that bring innovative defense technologies to the field.

Responsibilities:

Assist in establishing and scaling manufacturing processes from R&D prototype builds to repeatable, fieldable production.

Interface with mechanical and electrical design engineers early in development to ensure designs transition smoothly into production.

Author and refine visual Work Instructions (WIs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), setup sheets, routers, and quality control documentation.

Design, prototype, and validate assembly jigs, fixtures, and Go/No-Go inspection gauges to ensure repeatable, high‑yield production.

Participate in root cause analysis (RCA), yield optimization projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Assist with Quality Management System (QMS) activities, including PFMEAs, Engineering Change Orders (ECO/ECN), incoming inspections, and first‑article testing.

Work hands‑on with technicians and assembly personnel to ensure processes are followed safely, efficiently, and accurately.

Coordinate with external fabrication vendors and contract manufacturers (CMs) for custom tooling, parts procurement, and outsourced processes.

Support the maintenance of manufacturing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routings within our ERP system.

Requirements:

U.S. Citizenship is required along with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

Able to commit to a full‑time 6 month co‑op term from January through June 2027

Eager to get in on the ground floor as a high‑initiative, hands‑on "doer" who enjoys building processes and capabilities from scratch.

Proven ability to coordinate among multiple shifting priorities and flourish in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.

Fluent in SolidWorks & 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX) for the design, documentation, and lifecycle management of parts, large assemblies, drawings, and metadata.

Ability to design and implement assembly jigs, fixtures, and Go/No-Go inspection gauges to ensure repeatable, high‑yield production.

Understanding of LEAN manufacturing and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) principles with a history of ownership and execution of process improvement projects.

Experienced with quality management systems (ISO9001), including document control, ECN/ECO processes, PPAP, NPI gates, and conducting PFMEAs to mitigate production risks.

Proficient in GD&T (ASME Y14.5 standards), drawing reviews, and performing tolerance stack‑up analyses to ensure parts fit consistently during mass assembly.

Experience utilizing ERP/MRP systems to manage Bills of Materials (BOMs), establish manufacturing routings, and support operational workflows.
