Job summary

Culture Biosciences is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer to support hardware and single-use consumables production on the South San Francisco site. You will lead change, transfer designs with R&D, and drive improvements across mechanical, electrical, chemical, software, and materials engineering teams.

This hands-on role requires independent project ownership, working with small teams, and a passion for building bioprocess manufacturing solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of related experience in manufacturing/biotech environments.
• Hands-on troubleshooting through design verification and validation.
• Ability to clearly communicate engineering concepts, risks, and status to teams.

Responsibilities

• Scale consumables & hardware prototypes from concept to higher manufacturing volumes.
• Build hardware and single-use products on the manufacturing floor.
• Write manufacturing instructions and device history records.
• Enhance in-house manufacturing capabilities and Quality systems.
• Run the floor's deviation processes and quality checks across builds.
• Partner with R&D on design transfer and collaborate with engineers and technicians to debug and optimize systems.
• Work cross-functionally to develop and maintain systems, including user testing, training, and change control.
• Learn about fermentation, cell culture, and biomanufacturing.
