Job summary

Reliable Safety & Flow Corporation in Columbia, PA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer - Automation to drive automation on the production floor. You will lead capital projects, identify automation opportunities, and manage external integrators or internal teams to deliver running cells.

This role requires hands-on experience with CNC, robotics, and automated systems, plus PLC/HMI troubleshooting and UR5/robot implementation. A dynamic, fast-paced environment awaits skilled project leaders.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering field (manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or related).
3–5+ years of experience with CNC, robotics, and automated systems.
Hands-on troubleshooting of Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLCs and HMIs.
Experience leading at least one automation or capital project from concept through launch, with an integrator or internal team.

Responsibilities

Lead capital projects from concept through installation and startup, including scope, budget, schedule, and status reporting to management.
Identify automation opportunities and prepare cost/benefit and ROI justifications for capital requests.
Manage external integrators and vendors, write specifications, evaluate quotes, lead design reviews, and run FAT/SAT.
Lead internal teams in design, build, programming, and commissioning of automated cells, fixtures, and EOAT.
Apply flexible automation (UR5, vision, EOAT) to adapt to changing product mix and volumes.
Support material handling automation, define routes/workflows, coordinate with vendors, integrate vehicles with cells.
Handoff new equipment with operator training, documentation, and spare parts plan.
Troubleshoot CNC machines, robotic cells, and automated systems; drive root cause corrective actions.
Diagnose controls/robotics issues (PLC/HMI, sensors, safety circuits, robot faults, EOAT problems).
Partner with maintenance to improve preventive maintenance and repairs.
Lead rollout of machine monitoring platform across CNC and legacy equipment, with dashboards for operators and leadership.
Use real-time data to find bottlenecks and reduce downtime to maximize ROI.
Track downtime, scrap, OEE, cycle times; turn data into improvement projects.
Plan workflows, layouts, and equipment placement to improve efficiency.
Work with Quality to improve processes and add error-proofing; ensure OSHA compliance.
