Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, industrial, or materials and processes engineering.
• Knowledge of space electronics processes, soldering, bonding, encapsulation, crimping, and unit assembly.

Responsibilities

• Analyze sequence of operations affecting production performance and tooling concepts.
• Support activity within define/product/supplier teams (make-buy).
• Assist in identifying and implementing advanced manufacturing technologies.
• Implement the overall manufacturing plan and design changes.
• Coordinate and provide technical direction for phases of manufacturing programs.
• Analyze drawings, processes and equipment; propose changes to improve production and reduce costs.
• Incorporate engineering changes through all manufacturing phases.
• Review workflow, station layout, lead times; adjust as needed.
• Develop manufacturing plans and set completion dates for all functions.
• Determine planning and tooling to meet contract requirements.
• Monitor progress and initiate corrective actions as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Incumbents in this classification typically perform less complex tasks and assignments in a specific phase of manufacturing and possess a basic understanding of manufacturing engineering and production activities acquired through advance education.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes sequence of operations that affects production performance and tooling concepts.
• Supports activity within define/product/supplier teams (i.e. make-buy activity).
• Assists in identification and implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies.
• Implements the overall manufacturing plan and design changes affecting the plan.
• Responsible for the coordination and technical direction of specific phases of manufacturing programs.
• Analyzes engineering drawings, machine processes, equipment capabilities, operator machine compatibility, and recommends engineering changes to improve production, alleviate manufacturing difficulties, and promote cost reductions.
• Responsible for the incorporation of engineering changes through all phases of manufacturing.
• Reviews work flow, work station layout, economic lot size, and manufacturing lead time, and makes changes as appropriate.
• Develops complete set-back schedule of manufacturing, establishing completion date for all functions.
• Develops basic manufacturing configuration as required.
• Determines planning and tooling needed to meet contract requirements.
• Monitors progress and initiates changes and corrective action as needed.
• Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, industrial, or materials and processes engineering.
• Knowledge of space electronics processes, soldering, bonding, encapsulation, crimping, and unit assembly.
• Manufacturing engineering the interrelationship of production activities.
