You will program, optimize toolpaths, and advance routing while collaborating with Quality, Planning, and Operations to improve cycle time, yield, and throughput in an AS9100 environment.

The role requires hands-on work at the machines, strong GD&T knowledge, and experience with PPAP/NPI activities.

Qualifications

Job Description

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead CNC process development, programming, and continuous improvement across aerospace precision machining operations. This role owns process and routing optimization for complex, tight‑tolerance components and works hands‑on at the machines while collaborating closely with Quality, Planning, and Operations to improve cycle time, yield, and throughput in an AS9100‑certified environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, write, and validate CNC programs for mill/turn and multi‑axis machines for both new and existing production parts.
• Build and optimize toolpaths in Mastercam, including post‑processing and simulation prior to releasing programs to the shop floor.
• Lead process and routing optimization initiatives, including operation sequencing, cycle time reduction, and fixture and tooling improvements.
• Partner with Quality on first‑article inspection, PPAP activities, and new part introduction (NPI) for aerospace components.
• Troubleshoot process deviations and non‑conformances on the shop floor and drive root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Standardize cutting parameters, tooling selections, and work instructions across machines, cells, and product lines.
• Support capacity planning and capital equipment justification for new or replacement CNC assets.
• Read, interpret, and apply GD&T and detailed blueprint requirements for tight‑tolerance aerospace components.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Planning and Operations to align manufacturing processes with production schedules and delivery goals.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives to enhance throughput, quality, and overall efficiency.

Essential Skills

• Hands‑on manufacturing engineering experience in a CNC machining environment.
• Proficiency in CNC programming for mill/turn and multi‑axis machines.
• Strong Mastercam experience, including toolpath creation, post‑processing, and program simulation.
• Demonstrated ability to lead process improvement and process engineering initiatives in a production setting.
• Experience with aerospace machining and tight‑tolerance components.
• Ability to read and apply GD&T and complex engineering blueprints.
• Knowledge of AS9100 requirements and working in a certified environment.
• Experience supporting PPAP, APQP, and new part introduction (NPI) activities.
• Ability to develop and standardize work instructions, cutting parameters, and tooling across multiple machines.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with experience in root‑cause analysis and corrective action on the shop floor.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Exposure to Six Sigma practices and structured process improvement tools.
• Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD tools for design and manufacturability review.
• Experience in aerospace engineering or precision machining for aerospace customers.
• Experience with assembly processes related to machined components.
• Ability to contribute to capacity planning and capital equipment justification.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with Quality, Planning, and Operations teams.

Work Environment

The role operates within an AS9100‑certified aerospace precision machining environment that focuses on CNC mill/turn and multi‑axis operations. Work is primarily performed on and around CNC machines, using Mastercam and related software tools for programming, simulation, and toolpath optimization. The position involves close collaboration with Quality, Planning, and Operations, with a strong emphasis on process control, documentation, and standardized work instructions. The environment supports lean manufacturing and continuous improvement, with regular engagement in activities to enhance cycle time, yield, and throughput. Appropriate industrial attire and adherence to standard safety practices are expected in the production and machining areas.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wauseon, OH.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $58.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
