Job summary

Modine Manufacturing Company in Trenton, MO is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer who will develop cost effective manufacturing methods by analyzing processes and installations and by evaluating efficient solutions to manufacturing problems. You will actively participate in the Modine Production System, supporting all shifts and major equipment modifications.

  • Seek to improve processes by developing awareness of new electrical control systems and mechanical technology and generate cost savings.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing Principles desirable.
  • FEMA training to be completed within first 12 months of hire.

  • Works with all areas of engineering and production to provide the best manufacturing methods and keeps the Manufacturing Engineering Manager updated on project status.
  • Works with outside vendors or contractors and with corporate engineering representatives as needed.
  • Investigates alternative solutions and develops cost information for each; makes recommendations to the Manager and executes the project.
  • Designs equipment when necessary and specifies equipment to satisfy manufacturing requirements; troubleshoots PLC programs and develops/modifies PLC code.
  • Writes tool orders and requisitions materials explaining needs to vendors or sources to ensure tools are built or repaired.
  • Assists production on all shifts with problems, from minor process tweaks to major equipment modifications.
  • Participates in set-up of new equipment and transfers between plants as required; supports installation, testing, and training.

Position Description

Develop cost effective manufacturing methods by analyzing existing processes and installations and by evaluating the most efficient solutions to manufacturing problems. Will be responsible for troubleshooting all aspects of PLC controlled equipment. Will actively participate in Modine Production System.

Modine Manufacturing Company in Trenton, MO is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer who will develop cost effective manufacturing methods by analyzing existing processes and installations and by evaluating the most efficient solutions to manufacturing problems. The individual will actively participate in the Modine Production System.

Key Responsibilities
  • Works with all areas of engineering and production to provide the best manufacturing methods, and keeps Manufacturing Engineering Manager abreast of the status of established projects.
  • Works with outside vendors or contractors where needed on most projects and with representatives of corporate manufacturing engineering and product engineering when needed.
  • Investigates alternative solutions for given projects, and develops cost information for each. Makes recommendations to Manager and responsible for the execution of project.
  • Designs equipment when necessary, specifies equipment to satisfy manufacturing requirements. Will troubleshoot machine control programs, and develop or modify PLC programs where needed.
  • As required, will write tool orders and requisition materials explaining the specific needs to outside vendors, the tool room, or other sources to assure the build or repair of required tools.
  • Involved in assisting production on all shifts with complex problems through minor changes in a manufacturing process, to a major modification of an existing piece of equipment (mechanical or electrical). This includes the possible recommendation and installation of equipment and process qualification where applicable.
  • Assigned to major projects such as the set‑up of new pieces of equipment authorized for purchase or transferred from another plant in conjunction with the requirements for the project.
  • Will contribute to each phase of the installation, set‑up, debugging, implementation, safety and ergonomic review, qualification and training on the equipment before being released to production.
Required Education & Qualifications
  • Bacehlors Degree in engineering required with Electrical Engineering knowledge
  • Strong analytical skills including knowledge of CAD applications (preferably Solid Edge), and other computer based software.
  • Maintain a practical knowledge of operating systems and mechanical equipment throughout the plant.
  • Constantly seek to improve processes by developing awareness of new electrical control systems and mechanical technology, and generate cost savings related to the manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing Principles desirable.
  • Four year engineering degree required with Mechanical and Electrical Engineering knowledge preferred.
  • FEMA training required to be completed within first 12 months of hire.
