Key Responsibilities
- Design and refine CNC machining sequences for turning and multi-axis milling operations.
- Utilize Mastercam or Siemens NX CAM to generate and maintain high-quality CNC programs.
- Convert 3D models, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications into streamlined production workflows.
- Boost production output by optimizing cutting paths, tool selection, and machining speeds.
- Ensure machine reliability by creating and adjusting G&M Code and specialized CNC programs.
- Engineer custom fixtures, soft jaws, and workholding to support both new and legacy machining tasks.
- Partner with machine operators to resolve technical challenges and enhance overall process stability.
- Drive continuous improvement by validating CNC programs and reducing cycle times to help the team meet production goals.
- Establish standardized, repeatable manufacturing methods that guarantee high product quality and strict adherence to dimensions.
- Provide DFM/DFA insights during the design phase to ensure new components are optimized for production.
- Provide technical support for prototype, first-piece, and full-scale production runs.
- Drive cost-efficiency by analyzing scrap rates, tooling performance, and cycle times to uncover improvement opportunities.
- Maintain accurate manufacturing records, including setup sheets, process instructions, and tooling inventories.
- Collaborate with Quality Engineering to ensure all parts meet specifications and resolve any process-related deviations.
- Facilitate the integration of new machining technologies, tooling, and equipment into our facility.
- Stay current with industry advancements in CNC machining methods and programming software to maintain our competitive edge.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field; equivalent practical experience is welcome.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing engineering and CNC programming within a production setting.
- Advanced proficiency in utilizing Mastercam or Siemens NX CAM software.
- Proven capability to write, modify, and debug G&M Code.
- Extensive background in CNC turning and milling, including multi-axis operations.
- Practical experience in designing effective workholding and fixture solutions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of material properties, cutting tools, and machining parameters.
- Ability to accurately interpret 3D CAD models, GD&T, and complex engineering blueprints.
- Demonstrated success in troubleshooting CNC programs directly on the shop floor.
- Strong analytical and communication skills to effectively solve complex manufacturing problems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machining environments.
- Background in complex contouring and high-speed machining techniques.
- Familiarity with CNC controllers such as Haas, Fanuc, Mazak, Okuma, or Siemens.
- Experience with mill-turn, Swiss-style, or CNC turning operations.
- Proficiency in designing fixtures using 3D CAD platforms like Siemens NX or SolidWorks.
- Expertise in advanced inspection techniques and GD&T standards.
- Experience applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Background in optimizing tool life and reducing cycle times through strategic tooling selection.
- Familiarity with manufacturing documentation and ERP/MRP systems.
