Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to design and optimize production processes at our Cusseta, AL plant. You will develop layouts, select tooling, and lead lean initiatives to improve throughput and quality.

The role requires a BS in Engineering or equivalent, plus hands-on experience with automated assembly, cell layouts, and BIW awareness. Occasional travel and strong teamwork are expected.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in engineering or equivalent experience in related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of automated assembly and cell layout.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support plant operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes and layouts for cost efficiency.
  • Coordinate manufacturing launches for new or revised products.
  • Lead lean initiatives, process improvements, and cost reductions.
  • Provide training and support to team members on new processes.

Who We Want

Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls. Coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products. Priorities include process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training.

What You’ll Do

Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes, including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment. Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment. Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products, including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results. Designs, develops, tests or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods. Creates and maintains job elements sheets and standard work sheets. Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement and efficiency improvement. Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams. Leads and supports lean manufacturing initiatives; including, cost reductions and productivity improvements.

When and Where

This will be a 1st Shift M-F position located at our Plant in Cusseta, AL. Occasionally, this may require you to arrive early, stay late, or work on weekends, outside of our regular hours, to ensure we successfully meet customer needs, deadlines, or urgent requests.

What You Need to Have

BS degree from a 4 year college or university in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, etc) or equivalent experience and demonstrated knowledge of: Automated assembly experience Cell layout experience MS Office experience BIW product understanding & experience Sheet metal fabrication and assembly experience AutoCad experience Plexus experience. Has high standards of performance for self. Takes responsibility for actions, results, and mistakes. Is thorough, accurate, and reliable when performing and completing job tasks; demonstrates honesty and integrity in all aspects of work.
