Job summary

Eaton’s IS AER FED division is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer. This position will sit out of our Middlesex, NC location 5 days a week with the hours of 7am-4pm.

The Manufacturing Engineer will support cross-functional teams, drive data‑driven process improvements, manage capital projects, and ensure safety, quality, and cost targets are met. Limited travel may be required often to collaborate with multiple teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • U.S. person as defined by ITAR and authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Reside within 50 miles of Middlesex, NC.

Responsibilities

  • Support Operations, Quality, and EHS through daily floor activities and audits.
  • Participate in MESH and FIFI programs; assist audits and corrective actions.
  • Lead or support Capital Projects, MOC processes, and cost-out initiatives.
  • Improve tooling, processes, safety, and manufacturability; mentor operators.
  • Report cost outs and ensure compliance with quality systems and standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement improvements.

Job description

Eaton’s IS AER FED division is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer. This position will sit out of our Middlesex, NC location 5 days a week with the hours of 7am-4pm.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $71000 - $105000 a year.

Position Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager and supports the Cross Functional Team (CFT – Operations, Safety and Quality) with day‑to‑day floor support, compliance, and audits. They will draw data‑driven conclusions, provide input, and implement improvements to processes, manufacturing, safety, and quality. They will manage Capital Engineering projects and be responsible for following the Management of Change (MOC) process, executing the projects, and capturing cost savings.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Operations, Quality, and EHS Support
  • Safety – Follow and improve MESH (Eaton Environmental, Safety and Health process) program, and other Eaton and industry standard practices.
  • Safety – complete audits, gembas, and participate in the Find It Fix It (FIFI) program
  • Operations – participate in daily CFT meetings and support the Front‑Line Leaders (FLLs), operators, and equipment
  • Quality – support Quality Team during audits and plan and resolve Corrective Actions, Opportunities for Improvement, complete Layered Process Audits (LPAs)
  • Quality – DMR (Defective Material Report) support – Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and manufacturing input, DMR resolutions
  • Engineering
  • Capital Projects – support, plan, budget, and execute Engineering Capital Projects and follow the Management of Change (MOC) process, support the PROLaunch team
  • Tooling – sustain and improve tooling designs to improve equipment reliability and product quality
  • Ensures efficiency tied to capital intensity and human resources by utilizing Eaton LEAN and Six Sigma tools
  • Sustain pFMEAs, process routers, BOMs, Control Plan, and Process documents to ensure safety, quality, and cost targets are achieved
  • Support Maintenance Team with equipment support, and PM program development
  • Troubleshoot and provide recommendations to implement changes in processes to improve manufacturability and profitability (cost out). Work directly with production associates, from all areas of the plant, in the implementation of projects to build an inclusive culture and processes that meet the needs of all employees and customers.
  • Report Factory Cost Outs (FCO) and capture cost savings of process improvements and Capital projects
  • Ensure all process improvements, changes, and projects comply with Product and Quality Engineering standards (Eaton Quality Management System, AS9100, NADCAP)
  • Continuous Improvement – participate and lead Rapid Improvement Events (RIEs), and complete plant 5S audits and improvements
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Must be a U.S. person as defined by ITAR: U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of 50 miles of Middlesex, North Carolina will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of manufacturing engineering experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering: Mechanical, Electrical/Controls, Automation/Mechatronics, Industrial, Manufacturing or Aerospace engineering
  • Experience with Capital Project Management – management or support, planning, execution
  • Experience with NADCAP (PRI) / AS9100 (or other industry standards) audits.
  • Previous lean and/or six sigma certifications, with demonstrated results.
  • Experience in high volume manufacturing environment.
  • Autodesk AutoCAD and SOLIDWORKS experience.
  • Experience in bulk hose manufacturing, extrusion, braiding, winding, textiles, automation, and PLC programming
Additional Information

Limited travel may be required (Opportunity to gain exposure to and work with many teams from manufacturing operations to design engineering, to program management office, to FED leadership team, to order management/contracts, etc.)
