Job summary

Silgan Plastics in Indiana is seeking a maintenance/engineering professional to improve the operational efficiency of BDS blow molding machinery. You will rebuild and upgrade machines, implement new technology, and guide capital projects from concept to installation.

The role requires strong mechanical and electrical skills, ability to read schematics and drawings, proficiency with AutoCAD, MS Office, PLCs, and a proactive, self-starting mindset. Plastics processing knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Read and develop engineering drawings as well as electrical schematics to diagnose problems and develop solutions for equipment issues.
• Troubleshooting equipment and systems after their installation.
• Support engineering team with designing layouts of systems and equipment.
• Installing new systems or equipment.
• Training maintenance employees on the maintenance of installed systems and equipment.
• Understanding blueprints and schematics to correctly install a system or piece of equipment.
• Helping engineers develop new methods or products.
• Communicating with customers and vendors about new systems and equipment and how to operate them.
• Suggesting improvements in work processes to increase efficiencies.
• Mentoring maintenance and technical team members.
• Communicate progress of assigned projects to the plant team with supporting documents.

Candidate will work with the production facilities to improve the operational efficiency of the BDS blow molding machinery by assisting in rebuilding and upgrading existing machines as well as upgrading and streamlining the technology where applicable.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
