Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to design and optimize standard manufacturing processes in Mocksville, NC. The role requires planning production methods, coordinating equipment needs, and interfacing with suppliers and design teams to ensure robust, cost-effective manufacturing.

You will drive Lean events, improve production efficiency, and mentor teams in problem-solving using 8D/5-Why techniques while maintaining quality and safety across operations.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial or Mechanical engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in final assembly and testing, and engineering software.

Responsibilities

• Designs and coordinates standard manufacturing processes.
• Plans or improves production methods including flow, tooling, assembly methods and production equipment.
• Estimates production times and staffing for production schedules.
• Develops capital equipment requirements and coordinates with design, manufacturing and suppliers.
• Leads Lean Manufacturing improvement events and cost-reduction initiatives.

Manufacturing methods and processes are established and reviewed to minimize total cost and improve quality and productivity. New capital equipment requirements are analyzed, installed, and their proper use is documented and instructed. New product designs are reviewed for manufacturing. Provides (technical) support and assistance in the implementation of engineering and process changes to new and existing products. Participates in rapid improvement events.

Responsibilities

• Designs and coordinates standard manufacturing processes.
• Plans or improves production methods including flow, tooling, assembly methods and production equipment.
• Estimates production times and optimum staffing for production schedules.
• Determines the development or purchase of capital equipment.
• Interacts with design, manufacturing and suppliers.
• Creates production processes and documents through routings, bills of materials and standard work.
• Assists internal and external suppliers with process problems and troubleshoots to find root cause.
• Oversee fixture design and manufacture.
• Ensures final process is capable and stable.
• Evaluates non-confirming parts and provides proper disposition.
• Leads and participates in Lean Manufacturing improvement events using all available tools and techniques.
• Implement cost reduction ideas.
• Ensures safety designed into all processes and implements safety corrective actions required to eliminate safety risks
• Project management.
• Develop, test, modify, and create solutions to technical problems.
• Directing and coordinating production, operations, quality assurance, testing, or maintenance processes
• Creating project specifications and detailed plans.

Core Competences

• Ability to quickly determine root cause utilizing 8D’s and 5 -Why tools.
• Ability to quickly assess manufacturing issues related to design and tolerancing
• Knowledge of basic design and manufacturing datum development and its effect in manufacturing processes.
• Ability to utilize engineering principles to develop robust manufacturing processes the first time
• Fluent knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering, Machining, assembly and quality control processes
• Strong leadership skills to drive engineering principles and processes
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of new model launch requirements and processes to ensure flawless launch goals
• Extensive PC Skills: Excel, Word, Access, Microsoft Project.
• Ability to resolve multiple conflicts between widely varying personalities.
• Requires cross functional communication, simultaneous engineering and reporting
• Demonstrated abilities in tool, fixture and gage design.
• Demonstrated understanding of inspection tools, techniques and their application to engineering requirements.
• Must be a self-starter with high initiative and able to work with little supervision.
• Must work well with others in a team environment supporting operations team.
• Strong project management skills.
• Understanding of production control and demand pull systems highly desirable.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial or Mechanical engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in the following areas: final assembly and testing,
• 3+ years of experience with engineering-related software
