Job summary

Humanetics is seeking a process engineer to monitor and improve molding operations across rubber, vinyl, foam, silicone, and urethane departments. This role defines and documents preparation, mold, and trim processes to achieve quality and efficiency.

The ideal candidate has a technical bachelor’s degree, 3+ years in process engineering, and experience with PPAP/FMEA. Lean, SPC/DOE training, and a six-sigma belt are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field is required.
  • 3 years of process engineering experience is required.
  • Six-sigma black belt is preferred.
  • Experience with PPAP, FMEA, and control plans preferred.
  • Training in problem-solving techniques such as SPC/DOE is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors, controls, and improves molding-related processes.
  • Develops, documents, and validates the test methods used to qualify, monitor, and improve the quality of raw compounds.
  • Researches new methods to better control and tune the compounds and manufacturing processes.
  • Troubleshoots manufacturing problems to eliminate defects and supports manufacturing as needed.
  • Leads rubber, vinyl, foam, silicone, and urethane mold design projects to ensure molds meet all requirements and are completed on time.
  • When necessary, mold parts to assist manufacturing or to do prototyping.

Role Purpose

This position has the responsibility to monitor, control, and improve the manufacturing processes used to produce the parts in the rubber, vinyl, foam, silicone, and urethane molding departments. This includes responsibility for defining and documenting processes used to prepare for molding, mold parts, and trim parts after they are molded.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Works with outside vendors to find or formulate new compounds, manufacture the compounds used by production to high quality standards, and qualify new compounds and vendors of raw materials for production.
  • Develops, documents, and validates the test methods used to qualify, monitor, and improve the quality of the raw compounds.
  • Research new methods to better control and tune the compounds and manufacturing processes.
  • Troubleshoots manufacturing problems to eliminate defects, and supports manufacturing as needed.
  • Leads rubber, vinyl, foam, silicone, and urethane mold design projects to assure that new molds meet all requirements of the molding department and are completed on time.
  • When necessary, molds parts to assist manufacturing or to do prototyping
Education and/or Experience
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in related technical field such as engineering, manufacturing or chemistry.
  • Additional training in problem-solving techniques (i.e. Statistical Quality Control/Statistical Process Control, lean, SPC, DOE) is preferred.
  • Experience with PPAP, FMEA and Control Plans preferred.
  • 3 years process engineering experience is required.
  • A six-sigma black belt certification is preferred.
