Job summary

Software Placement Group (SPG) seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to drive continuous improvement of processes and equipment used to produce sprinklers and valves. You will lead projects, design and improve manufacturing methods, and support capital equipment needs across plant operations.

Requirements include a BS in Mechanical/Manufacturing Eng, 3–5 years in manufacturing, and strong GD&T, CAD, and LEAN knowledge. You will collaborate across departments to meet production goals and train staff.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Analyze designs to determine the best method of manufacture.
• Manage Manufacturing Engineering projects to scope, schedule, and budget.
• Lead design, development, and improvement of manufacturing processes.
• Support capital equipment specs, quotes, and runoff of tooling.
• Evaluate production time, staffing, and related costs.
• Maintain quality process docs (PFMEAs, CPs, work instructions).
• Provide engineering support and root-cause analysis for production.
• Analyze data to prioritize actions and assess process capability.
• Create/update equipment, tooling, and gage drawings.
• Communicate across departments to meet business objectives.
• Manage changes to product engineering as requested.
• Assist with training of employees and guidance to workers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Overview

An established manufacturer serving the fire protection industry is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to drive continual improvement of the processes and equipment used to produce sprinklers and valves. This role plays a key part in ensuring efficient, high-quality production and supporting plant operations.

What you'll do

• Analyze sprinkler and valve component and assembly product designs to determine the best method of manufacture
• Manage Manufacturing Engineering projects to scope, on time, and within budget
• Lead the design, development, and improvement of manufacturing processes
• Support the specification, quoting, purchase, and runoff of capital equipment, tooling, and systems required for manufacturing
• Evaluate and estimate production time, staffing requirements, and related costs to inform management decisions
• Develop and maintain quality process documentation, including Process Flow diagrams, PFMEAs, Control Plans, Standard Work Instructions, and set-up sheets
• Provide engineering support for plant operations and troubleshoot daily production problems using root cause analysis methods
• Analyze manufacturing data to prioritize actions in assigned work centers and assess process capability for improvement opportunities
• Create and revise equipment, tooling, and gage drawings
• Communicate across departments to coordinate engineering activities and ensure business objectives are met
• Manage implementation of product engineering changes as requested
• Assist with instruction and training of employees to achieve company goals
• Provide guidance for production workers, technicians, and interns
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent
• High level of analytical ability and solid problem-solving skills
• 3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment
• Understanding of GD&T, datum dimensioning, and tolerance stack-ups
• Knowledge of CNC machining, stamping, robotics, CAD tools, pneumatic circuits, materials, and LEAN manufacturing concepts
• Demonstrated strong project management, communication, and leadership skills

Preferred qualifications

• Knowledge of cellular assembly, automation, ladder logic, and rotary transfer machining preferred
