Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer for a Flint, MI automotive crankshaft role. You will support daily production of about 1,000 crankshafts, work on the plant floor with operators and quality teams, and drive process improvements to boost quality and throughput.

The position requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering, 3–5+ years crankshaft experience, strong GD&T and metrology knowledge, and PPAP familiarity for automotive quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • 3-5+ years of crankshaft manufacturing experience in a mass-production environment.
  • Hands-on experience with crankshaft machining processes.
  • Strong GD&T understanding and dimensional measurement techniques.
  • Experience with gauging systems, metrology equipment, and manufacturing metrics.
  • Familiarity with PPAP and automotive manufacturing quality processes.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily production of approximately 1,000 crankshafts per day in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Work directly on the plant floor with operators, quality teams, and manufacturing personnel to support production goals.
  • Monitor and improve crankshaft machining processes to drive quality, efficiency, and throughput.
  • Analyze production issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and defects.
  • Utilize GD&T to evaluate machining accuracy and dimensional quality.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure compliance with manufacturing requirements.
  • Evaluate measurement data and process metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Support and maintain gauging systems used for dimensional verification and quality control.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on process optimization, cost reduction, and quality enhancement.
  • Collaborate with quality and manufacturing teams on PPAP activities and production validations.
  • Ensure machining processes meet quality, safety, and production standards.
  • Support launch and ramp-up activities by identifying and resolving manufacturing challenges quickly.
