Job summary

Great opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to work for a global automotive leader located in the western greater Chicago area. This role focuses on assembly processes, continuous improvements, tooling, and manufacturing layouts to optimize efficiency.

The ideal candidate will review specifications, define cost-effective manufacturing methods, and collaborate with teams to meet quality and production targets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering, or relevant experience.
  • At least 1 year of manufacturing engineering experience in a similar manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Process Development Project Management – ensuring completion from start to finish
  • Supports and/or leads product launch activities
  • Review engineering specifications, process flows, and other information to understand methods and activities in manufacturing and services
  • Define how to manufacture parts or products, or deliver services, with maximum efficiency
  • Develop quality control procedures to resolve production problems or minimize costs
  • Work with customers and management to develop standards for design and production
  • Confer with clients concerning product specifications, vendors about purchases, management personnel about manufacturing capabilities, and staff about the status of projects
  • Develop, recommend, and implement initiatives to improve production metrics and financial performance
  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements
  • Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians
