Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Med Tech, a member of Johnson & Johnson’s Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer located in Añasco, Puerto Rico. This role focuses on supporting base operations, problem solving, and continuous improvement within GMP/ISO environments.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Engineering, 1–2 years in manufacturing/MED device context, bilingual Spanish and English, and proficiency with MS Office; knowledge of Minitab is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment, R&D or Process Development.
  • Experience in medical device industry or pharmaceutical preferred.
  • Fully bilingual: Spanish & English.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience with data analysis tools: Minitab.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and executes projects and/or programs of low to moderate complexity.
  • Improves process output, equipment utilization, and yield.
  • Supports troubleshooting and evaluates problems for prompt solutions.
  • Assists manufacturing in day-to-day equipment troubleshooting.
  • Follows SOPs, GMPs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains engineering and process procedures.
  • Collaborates with end users and suppliers on communications.

Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, handles most aspects of support to base business. Role is responsible for problem identification, reporting, root cause analysis, financial analysis, efficiency or productivity improvement, reporting, and problem resolution. Role interfaces directly with other departments, sites, and functional groups to drive and/or support critical business goals/objectives within GMP/ISO compliance. Lead/Support continuous improvement activities to ensure business key performance indicators are met. Communicates and escalates in a timely manner, any issues or concerns to the next management level. Understands and applies Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives in day-to-day interactions with team.

Key Role Responsibilities
  • Leads and executes projects and/or programs of low to moderate level of complexity ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, company standards, operation requirements and business needs.
  • Drive the optimization of process output and throughput, equipment utilization, equipment downtime, waste reduction/yield improvements, budget management, standard cost, and capital investment management in a creative manner.
  • Provides technical support to peers and production areas in evaluating process deficiencies, process changes, modifications, and equipment failure. Defines, analyzes, reviews, and evaluates problems for prompt solutions.
  • Supports manufacturing in the day-to-day troubleshooting of equipment’s to ensure increase production outputs and increase operation team capabilities.
  • Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Company Policies and Federal, State and Local Government Regulations.
  • Revise and maintain engineering, equipment’s, and process procedure.
  • Coordinates communications and interfaces within end users and machine manufacturers or suppliers.
  • Lead or participates in projects involving other departments and activities.
  • Evaluates process trends (Ex. Yield, OEE) to drive improvements of business results.
  • Provide training on process and validation requirements to operators and engineers
  • Stay in sync with all environmental, safety and occupational health policies
Qualifications

  • Experience working at medical device industry or pharmaceutical preferred
  • Must be fully bilingual: Spanish & English
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Preferred experience with data analysis tools: Minitab

  • This position will require up to 10% travel
