Job summary

STRATON INDUSTRIES in Stratford, CT is seeking a Manufacturing Cost Estimator to evaluate bids, develop process plans and communicate purchasing needs. This is not a remote position.

You will interpret blueprints, consult across departments, and prepare estimates for vendors. The role requires 3–5 years in a machine shop, experience with mills and lathes, and familiarity with standards and ERP software.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a Machine Shop.
• Experience in machining on both mills and lathes.
• Knowledge of materials (stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, etc.).
• Proficiency in computers and software including Excel, Word, SolidWorks, Catia.
• Experience with Epicor and Paperless Parts is a plus.
• Ability to communicate and deliver information accurately.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and planning skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of creating process plans and AS9100 Rev D is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints and data to prepare time, cost, material and labor estimates.
• Confer with subs, mgmt and other departments to determine processes for accurate quotes.
• Prepare estimates for selecting vendors or subcontractors.
• Review material and labor requirements to decide make or buy.
• Coordinate with customers to resolve issues and follow up on quotes.
• Review documentation for accuracy and completeness considering processes.
• Create manufacturing process plans including materials, plating and quality requirements.
