Job summary

Corsicana Mattress Company is seeking a Cost Accountant to determine, record, and report unit costs, and to provide management with cost analyses and variance explanations. The role supports plant and financial management with standard costing and cost-improvement initiatives.

Key duties include monthly close, updating standard costs, BOM accuracy, analyzing labor/material/overhead variances, and preparing inventory schedules and cost estimates for new products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• 3–5 years’ Cost Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience automating and improving processes to gain efficiency, improve accuracy and produce high quality work.
• Must have a strong cost system and inventory controls background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles.
• Strong PC skills and the ability to navigate within Corsicana Mattress systems; proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Close monthly accounting and reporting requirements in compliance with GAAP; analyze variances across locations.
• Maintain standard costs and all accounting entries; meet cost improvement objectives.
• Review standard costs for inaccuracies and complete margin reviews.
• Develop, maintain, and update standard costs and assist with annual cost roll.
• Understand, calculate, and update labor and overhead rates.
• Analyze actual labor, material and overhead costs against standards and report variances.
• Prepare cost estimates of new or special products for pricing and forecasting.
• Reconcile inventory reports to the general ledger and prepare related journal entries and schedules.
• Lead physical inventories and report facility variances.
• Support internal controls and standard work processes for financial operations.
