Job summary

Adient plc in Warren, MI seeks an Advanced Manufacturing Automation (AMA) Lead to define and enforce plant automation standards, review designs, and drive automation capital projects. You will coordinate IT/OT, operations, maintenance, quality, and safety to deliver production-ready systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in manufacturing automation, controls or systems integration.
• Experience leading automation capital projects of $500k+ in scope.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing, OEE, risk assessment, and launch processes.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical layouts, control narratives, network drawings, safety docs, and supplier proposals.
• Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Define, maintain, and enforce plant automation standards, design specs, controls architecture, and documentation requirements.
• Review and approve automation concepts, detailed designs, software architectures, safety solutions, modifications, and production launches.
• Lead automation capital planning and execution, including ROI analysis, scope development, vendor selection, schedule and budget control.
• Coordinate stakeholders across IT/OT, maintenance, operations, quality, and safety to deliver compliant systems.
• Establish launch-readiness criteria and verify equipment meets safety, quality, and reliability criteria before production release.
• Monitor automation performance using OEE, MTBF, downtime, throughput, quality, and launch metrics; drive corrective actions.
• Own automation lifecycle governance from concept to sustainment, ensuring stability before transfer to operations.
• Drive root-cause analysis, continuous improvement, standardization, and replication of proven automation solutions.
• Maintain awareness of emerging automation technologies and recommend practical applications to improve safety and productivity.
