Job summary

DWYER INSTRUMENTS, LLC is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer in Michigan City, IN to lead automation initiatives and continuous improvement across electromechanical assembly lines. The role partners with Operations, Engineering, Quality and CI teams to design, implement and optimize manufacturing processes and automation systems.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with electromechanical assembly, automation controls, and capital project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Hands-on experience with electromechanical assembly processes and automation systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CAD software such as SolidWorks or equivalent.
• Strong communication, leadership and influencing skills with ability to work effectively in cross-functional environments.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate and implement automation opportunities that improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity and labor efficiency.
• Develop scalable manufacturing processes and assembly methods for electromechanical products and configured solutions.
• Partner with Operations and Lean/CI teams to improve manufacturing flow, reduce waste, optimize labor utilization and improve throughput.
• Support plant operations with troubleshooting and resolution of critical manufacturing process, automation or controls-related issues as needed.
• Create/Update information for creation of BOMs/Routings in ERP.
• Benchmark industry best practices and introduce new manufacturing technologies, automation strategies and assembly techniques.
• Support capital project business cases including ROI analysis, equipment justification, labor savings and implementation timelines.
• Coordinate and manage external system integrators, machine builders and automation suppliers.
