Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking a Manufacturing Assembly Process Engineer (L6) to develop, implement, and improve assembly manufacturing processes across DTNA operations. 7% depending on age; starting at 4 weeks paid vacation; 13+ calendar holidays; 8 weeks paid parental leave; employee assistance program; comprehensive healthcare plans and wellness programs; onsite fitness (at some locations); tuition assistance and volunteer paid time off; short-term and long-term disability plans.What you drive at DTNAManufacturing Process EngineeringDevelop, implement, and continuously improve assembly manufacturing processes.Support safety-critical manufacturing systems, tooling, assembly processes, automation, and controls.Perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions for manufacturing issues.Ensure manufacturing processes meet safety, quality, productivity, ergonomic, and operational requirements.Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, process requirements, work instructions, and technical specifications.Evaluate manufacturing challenges and recommend practical technical solutions.Project ExecutionManage assigned manufacturing projects and workstreams from concept through implementation.Develop and maintain project schedules, action plans, budgets, risk assessments, and resource requirements.Coordinate activities with Design Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Logistics, Facilities, Environmental, and Plant teams.Identify risks, constraints, and dependencies that could affect project delivery.Develop mitigation plans and escalate concerns when additional support or decisions are needed.Provide clear and timely project updates to stakeholders.Maintain ownership of assigned deliverables and follow actions through completion.Hands-On Problem-SolvingSupport equipment installations, process validations, manufacturing launches, and production issue resolution.Work directly with plant personnel, suppliers, and engineering partners to understand problems and implement solutions.Gather and analyze data to identify root causes, trends, and improvement opportunities.Research unfamiliar issues and identify potential solutions rather than waiting for direction.Test and evaluate alternatives while considering safety, quality, cost, schedule, and operational impact.Adapt effectively when project conditions, priorities, or technical requirements change.Continuous Improvement and StandardizationIdentify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, tooling, layouts, ergonomics, and productivity.Apply Lean Manufacturing and structured problem-solving methodologies.Support the standardization of processes, equipment, and engineering practices across plants.Document lessons learned and share applicable solutions with other locations.Evaluate new manufacturing methods and technologies that could improve operational performance.Knowledge You Should BringBachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.2-4 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, or related disciplines.At least 2 years of experience leading projects involving multiple stakeholders.At least 1 year of experience supporting manufacturing launches, process improvements, or capital projects.Strong communication and organizational skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment.Ability to travel approximately 20 - 25% to engage directly with manufacturing operations, support project implementation, and collaborate with teams across North AmericaAbility to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, assembly layouts, and manufacturing documentation.Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar design and layout tools.Experience developing or reviewing manufacturing layouts, tooling concepts, workstation designs, and assembly process flows.Knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and other manufacturing quality tools.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reporting, formulas, pivot tables, and dashboard development.Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint with the ability to create professional presentations, organize complex information, and deliver clear, effective messaging to leadership and cross-functional teams.Exceptional Candidates Might HaveExperience supporting truck, automotive, heavy equipment, or high-volume manufacturing operations.Experience with safety-critical processes, torque-controlled fastening systems, tooling, automation, or controls.Experience with Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and problem-solving methodologies.Spanish language proficiency (written and verbal) is a plus.Experience working with cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams, including operations in Mexico and North America.Brings positive energy and enthusiasm to the team.Naturally takes ownership without waiting to be directed.The ability to remain effective under pressure, changing priorities, and incomplete information.A proactive communication style and consistent follow-through on commitments.Curiosity about new manufacturing methods, tools, and technologies.#LI-JN2 #LI-HybridWhere We WorkThis position is open to applicants who can work in (or relocate to) the following location(s)-Portland, OR US.
