What You Can Expect Working in the Manufacturing Accounting Intern Position

The Accounting Intern is responsible for assisting with accounts receivable, accounts payable and month end close functions. This position works closely with other members of the Finance team to provide assistance and gain experience with accounting tasks including month end close, financial reporting, general audit activities, and tax preparation.

Responsibilities

• Assists with research, filing, and data entry to maintaining accurate and complete financial records.
• Assists in month-end closing processes, ensuring transactions are in accordance with GAAP.
• Prepares assigned reconciliations and reporting.
• Assists with the accounts payable and receivable functions, as necessary.
• Assists with audit and tax activities.
• Assists with Fixed Asset Accounting.
• Works with Inventory and Manufacturing Groups on Cost Accounting activities.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
• Basic understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) with intermediate skills in Excel.
• Strong organization skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SAGE products or related accounting software.

Work Environment

• Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
• The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
