Job description

Manufacturing Accountant / Cost Analyst

City of Industry, California | On-site | Full-Time | Direct Hire | 3+ Years

MaxIT Consulting – Max Corporate Group is looking for a Cost Accountant to join an electrical and electronics manufacturing company in the City of Industry area, California.

You will own manufacturing cost accounting end to end: standard and job costs, inventory controls, variance analysis and month-end close, working side by side with Operations and Engineering to improve profitability and efficiency.

THE CHALLENGE

Costs in a manufacturing plant move every day: materials, labor, freight and overhead. The business needs a cost accountant who keeps standard costs and bills of materials accurate, explains every variance and turns the numbers into decisions on margins, pricing and efficiency.

This is a hands-on, on-site role close to the shop floor, with direct impact on inventory valuation, product costing and the monthly financial results.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and analyze standard costs, job costs, bills of materials (BOMs), labor rates and manufacturing overhead.

  • Investigate material, labor, freight and overhead cost variances and recommend improvements.

  • Reconcile inventory, work-in-process (WIP) and manufacturing-related general ledger accounts.

  • Monitor inventory valuation, scrap, obsolete inventory and cycle-count adjustments.

  • Support month-end close: journal entries, reconciliations, accruals and financial reporting.

  • Analyze gross margins, job profitability, purchase price variances and manufacturing performance.

  • Partner with Operations and Engineering to improve costing accuracy and manufacturing efficiency.

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, product costing and pricing decisions.

  • Develop reports and dashboards to track costs, margins and key performance indicators.

  • Support inventory audits, internal controls and continuous improvement initiatives.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of standard costing, job costing, inventory accounting, overhead absorption, variance analysis and month-end close.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups and data analysis.

  • Experience working with manufacturing ERP systems.
